If a printer has both parallel and USB ports, can 2 computers be hooked up at the same time... one computer on each port?
I have tried this and it didn't work. It probably depends on the printer. I have them working with ethernet + USB but was unsuccessful with parallel + USB together.
I have tried with a Canon IP4000 and it works at the same time using a parallel port to 1 PC and the USB to another PC. The printer is able to manage spooling of printing from both the PCs and manage them correctly, even mixing (alternate) queues of printing from the 2 PCs.
