Primal / Paleo Diet

  1. You are wrong FT's right. To lose weight cut cals. For great nutrition and lose weight carefully select food choices. Bacon and eggs are not good food choices. Even though you can lose weight on a diet of them, should cals remain low also.

Being overweight is a large contributing factor to many diseases. Loss of weight decreases ones risks.

Where is the proof that my eating bacon and eggs increases my risk for such? My labs before and after suggest otherwise.

I am losing weight through carbohydrate restriction. I eat all the fat I want. It satisfies my body. I ignore carbs.

    My body is proof.

  3. Do you think it a great idea to ignore vegetables, fruits and legumes for bacon fat? :D

Atkins induction includes vegetables without significant carbohydrate sources. Legumes, fruits, and nuts have more carbs than I am currently willing to eat. A paleo diet also advocates carb restriction for weight loss, and carb management for long term weight goals.

Do you think calories are an energy source for the human body?

A calories is a unit of measure along the lines of the amount of energy required to heat a gram of water one degree celsius. This does not really equate to the human energy needs. A calorie is not a physical component of food. Food is composed of fat, protein, carbohydrate, vitamin, mineral.

I would argue that avoiding fats starves the body of what it wants, craves, and needs. This can lead to inability to maintain weight loss goals, diet plans, and excess carb consumption.

  5. i have a non scientific observational study from my family. 2 sisters a couple of years apart. sister a was normal size as a teenager. sister b was heavy as a teenager. both married and had families. sister a ate the standard farm diet her whole life. meat and potatoes. we would kill a cow and fill the freezer every fall. sister a never ate anything green. she hated vegatables. by the time she was in her 50s she weighed over 250.
sister b grew up the same way. a ranchers wife eating meat they raised for almost every meal. she was also over 250 in her 50s. then she got converted to a seventh day adventest religion and adopted their vegetarian diet lifestyle.
fast forward 30 years. sister a is bedridden in a nursing home. arthritis, heart problems several other problems. not a good quality of life.
sister b is still a vibrant active woman. no sign of arthritis. lives in her own home probably looks closer to 60 than 80. looks to be about 170 lbs.
to make things more interesting sister b had 3 kids who did not follow the 7th day diet guidelines. one died at 50 from heart a attack. one has diabetes and the 3rd is heavy.
    not conclusive proof but interesting.

  7. There is like 3 different diets being talked about right here and non are really the same. Cal restriction, Atkins, and Paleo will all help you lose weight.

Atkins uses all kinds of fats, Paleo uses the only healthy kinds that do not cause inflammation. CR probably would not use any.

An atkins would have eggs wtih shredded cheese for breakfast and bacon all cooked in corn oil.
A Paleo would have FR/Org chicken egg omlet made with mushrooms and spinich cooked in coconut or olive oil.

A CR would probably have a omlet made with spinich mushrooms and no oil.

Cr's and Paleo would probably throw in an IF every now and then. You would never get that from an atkins.

  8. Rehoboth what the hell are you talking about?

Calories determine weightloss or weight gain period.

    Doesn't matter food selection.

Food selection (and healthy wweight)only plays a part in health & longevity.
