Yes, I read it. I stopped eating grains and a lot of good things happened. (I read the book long after I stopped eating grains, but a friend gave me the book.) Something I learned from a dietician who helped restore my health: not everyone reacts the same to grains. Some people do well on grains, and to other people (like me), grains = poison. I cut out grains, milk products and all processed foods. The positive change in my health was dramatic; not just in the way I felt, but in my bloood chemistry as well. Try a diet free from all processed foods, grains and milk for one month. Eat only fresh vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, berries and lean protein -- and see how you feel.
Yes I read Wheat Belly. My belly has greatly dimished, went below 245 yesterday from 297 since Nov. 2011 by eating blending Atkins and Paleo principles. I am no longer obese!
I have a serious question for you guys. A friend of mine just told me she wants to GAIN some weight. She says she doesn't want to look so muscular. Lol, from the pics I've seen, she looks pretty good considering her body type. (No, Lucrum, you're not getting a pic) I honestly don't know where to start. I told her most foods today are sugar based, and I'd rather she didn't go down that easy road. But I really don't know what the hell I am talking about when it comes to someone actually wanting to gain some weight.
http://www.bing.com/search?q=Drink+Ensure+Gain+Weight&FORM=R5FD3 I've known several thin women that used Ensure, problem is that people don't always gain weight exactly where they'ed like to.
I know, Kasty. I should have known better. It turns out Banjo is very correct. She wants to gain in some areas without gaining in others. I tried to explain to her how I not only don't believe in target training, I really don't believe that target weight gaining is even scientifically possible. But she was serious. That's what scares me. Trust me, she is not an idiot. It just goes to show how amazingly ignorant some people are about health and fitness.
actually it can happen. it depends what you eat. if you eat a whole foods plant based diet it can hard to consume enough calories to gain weight. we went on a semi vegetarian diet and my wife went from 130s to 110 even though we do not count calories. she is now trying to put some weight back on without eating unhealthy foods.
its not that because over the years she has had periods where she gained a little too much weight. i lost about the same number of pounds but since i started in the 190s it puts me in a good spot. its what we eat that is the main factor.
