Primal / Paleo Diet

  1. I don't think that was the argument.
I think the point is just because early man ate something, then that does not necessarily prove that it is the healthiest way for modern man to eat.

  4. Why so angry HB?

You really seem to be focusing on the wrong things regarding paleo. Do you really think a meat lovers pizza and arby's would be acceptable?

    Highly doubtful.

I'm about to turn 45, and am healthier than a lot of college athletes. Along with that comes a certain level of happiness which some will obviously never be willing to experience for themselves.

Have fun with your pizza, your Arbys, your anger, and your heart attack when your my age.

Or... do a little homework, start taking care of yourself and live a long happy life so we can continue to have these fascinating discussions until the end of time.

  7. A curious comparison, how do you figure you're healthier than a 20yr old athlete?

I'll admit, that might be a stretch. But I think most will agree that being in shape and being healthy go hand in hand, but aren't necessarily the same thing. Btw, I know there are guys who have posted in this particular thread who would absolutely bury me in the in shape category.

When I say healthier, I mean excellent blood work, strong heart, gradually losing weight over time by maintaining a high metabolism from eating healthy food and working out consistently.

When I think of being in excellent shape, I think of someone with speed, endurance, and strength, etc. That ain't me. I'm in better shape than most of the people I know personally, but I'm not about to enter any competitions as of yet.

I consider a defensive lineman to be in excellent shape, in that he can bench a million pounds, as well as run a 4.9 40. But if he eats pizza every night to stay big, that's not necessarily healthy.

Probably just a matter semantics, but I think you know what I mean.

    Great thread.

I think eating three times a day itself is unhealthy. I stopped eating breakfast and lunch for the past year. Around 3pm to 10pm I eat whatever I want without counting calories. I've gotten so much leaner and I'm always full of energy.

I understand losing weight is just a matter of calories in vs calories out. I think the reason why people fail at diets though is because they have a hard time watching what they eat, and this is easily solved by skipping the morning meals and having the freedom to eat whatever you want for 7 or 8 hours.
