How much room is there to negotiate commissions and margin rates with Schwab for larger accounts? I am looking for first hand experience if possible please.
Aren’t commissions zero already? “Charles Schwab said Tuesday that it is ending commissions for online trading in U.S. stocks, exchange-traded funds and options,” https://www.cnbc.com/2019/10/01/charles-schwab-is-eliminating-online-commissions-for-trading-in-us-stocks-and-etfs.html
You didn’t mention options originally. I just found in options trading group on FB someone said they negotiated those down to $0.45, before Schwab even officially dropped the other commissions. Someone else said $0.50. Can’t post screenshots due to people’s names shown there. But AUM usually doesn’t matter if you don’t trade a lot of options. Some people negotiate with $100K when trading a lot.
$1 million didn't use to interest them - 5 was their tipping point if held in stocks and bonds - cash does nothing. All subject to negotiation.
