A NYSE newbie question from a mostly NASDAQ guy. How exactly does this happen? Since I've started trading NYSE stocks, I probably get improvement about 1/2 the time. Is it because the quotes are lagging the actual market? Why on earth would the specialist fill me a couple of cents below the inside offer when my limit order would allow him to fill me at the offer?
