You do understand that they didn't censor anything, they added a note correctly pointing out that the tweet contained falsehoods while leaving the post entirely intact. If we've reached the point where a significant portion of the population considers correctly pointing out that the President is blatantly lying to be a bigger problem than the President blatantly lying then it's a pretty sad day for the country. That we've reached the point where the people who've decided that pointing out a lie is bad while the lie is fine can't even bring themselves to admit that they're doing that, as this thread so clearly demonstrates, it's a scary day for the country. We've moved beyond the point of reason to the point of self delusion.
It's pretty hard to listen to someone bitch about small puny things that nobody cares about. "Oh, he said a lie on twitter about someone passing ballots when they didn't" When people resort to pointing out the faults in others that make absolutely no difference in their life or anyone else's life, then it just shows how insignificant their own opinions really are. When hillary clinton lies, she lies about big things, like having people murdered to save her own ass. I just can't listen to someone complaining about the way someone speaks, or saying someone is lying about little small shit that doesn't even make a difference, when they themselves have no idea if it really is even a lie or not. I'm done talking, because someone like that will never be happy with anything nor will they ever get the big picture of whats really going on, because they are too busy focusing on all the little things that nobody cares about.
This quote makes it pretty clear. This isn't about one of Trump's tweets. There's a new cold war and US-Sino relations are going hot. It's time big tech gets outed for enabling CCP propaganda, disinformation, and censorship just so they can maintain access to the Chinese markets. Chinese gov has bankrolled the entire c-suite. It's called soft power. This is about the Chinese government's influence in social media. The trade war hasn't even started yet. Trump is gonna take the gloves off. I don't give a phuck about whether POTUS keeps it factual or not. There's 100k dead from covid and the CCP is going down.
The President if the United States falsely claiming that our election system is rigged is a "small puny thing" that "nobody cares about" and "doesn't even make a difference"? Again it's a pretty sad day when anyone becomes such an apologist that they could seriously believe that. Also, please spare us the rank hipocrisy. Are you honestly going to tell me that you wouldn't have been absolutely screaming if Obama had said the same thing? The right certainly screamed pretty much daily about far less important stuff than this for 8 years, but I suppose that was fine because you agreed with their political views? BTW, I always love people who claim they're "done talking" and then can't seem to stop talking. Let's see if you're one of those.
So I get that you don't like the Chinese government. Lot's of legitimate reasons for that. For example they don't let their private companies point out when their leaders are lying which of course is dictatorial and the antithesis of everything we as Americans both hold as important, right? What I don't get is how Trump lying about our U.S. election process has anything to do with your dislike of China or how it puts the U.S. in any better position against China? Simple question that all of the Trump apologists on this thread have yet to be able to answer; do you or do you not find the President of the United States lying about our election process to be completely reprehensible and unacceptable? Simple question, yes or no answer. Can you be the first person on this thread who is able to answer this straightforward question without some crazy attempt at diversion? The extreme gyrations you all are twisting yourself into to avoid admitting that this behavior by Trump is completely and utterly unacceptable says far more than your actual words ever could. Please, do some serious introspection and think about why you're so willing to excuse this behavior that you as an intelligent, ethical guy would otherwise never tolerate? Contrary to our friend @Trader Curt's assertion, this is really important stuff. If for no other reason than if a good chunk of us who are otherwise intelligent, well meaning people have lost the ability to reason and are either blind to or willfully ignore unacceptable behavior it has significant consequences for our country, one that I served for more than 20 years and really care about.
Trump is held accountable by election. Twitter is held accountable by.....lawsuit, oh wait Twitter get immunity from liability declaring itself is only a "platform". Remove that immunity then, if you want to moderate speech.
Getting elected to a 4 year term is not a carte blanche for a 4 year dictatorship. Your only redress for your twitter grievances is to get off Twitter. Trump can. Wait he won't
If a platform censors certain information then it has turned from an open platform to a news editorial. Choosing to fact check with bias a certain group of individuals and not checking another group. Free speech to controlled speech doesn't sound anything like democracy.
You know full well the president is held accountable with various mechanisms. This is just nitpicking.
