Yeah okay abortionist. So let me get this straight, the US would be on a path to prosperity under Kamala Harris, but will suffer under Trump. Here is a nice piece by your hero Paul Krugman. Ricter doesnt need to think, Krugman does his thinking for him. This guy spews this nonsense, you believe it, then never question a thing when when his nonsense turns out to be 100% false. You are a cultist. 11/09/2016 01:59 AM EST Paul Krugman: Trump will bring global recession The economic fallout of a Donald Trump presidency will probably be severe and widespread enough to plunge the world into recession, New York Times columnist Paul Krugman warned in a New York Times opinion piece published early Wednesday. Calling Trump the “mother of all adverse effects,” the Nobel Prize-winning economist predicted that the GOP nominee’s administration could quickly undo the progress that the markets around the world have made in the eight years since the financial crisis. Nov 9, 2016 Paul Krugman: The Economic Fallout It really does now look like President Donald J. Trump, and markets are plunging. When might we expect them to recover? Frankly, I find it hard to care much, even though this is my specialty. The disaster for America and the world has so many aspects that the economic ramifications are way down my list of things to fear. Still, I guess people want an answer: If the question is when markets will recover, a first-pass answer is never. Under any circumstances, putting an irresponsible, ignorant man who takes his advice from all the wrong people in charge of the nation with the world’s most important economy would be very bad news. What makes it especially bad right now, however, is the fundamentally fragile state much of the world is still in, eight years after the great financial crisis.
I do not believe the issue will be Democrats. Instead, it will be knives out by Republican congressional members who have already knifed Matt Gaetz in the back (he deserved it). Simply, the more MAGA members push on these crazy Trump policies (e.g. tariffs) with the illusion that the United States is self-sufficient...other Republicans will push back even harder because they're aware of the damage that Trump's tariffs did in his first term and how tariffs set the foundation for higher prices at the grocery stores. Regardless, I'm a citizen of both countries and have homes in both countries. I'm a consumer and I've seen firsthand what tariffs do to the instigator when the other country pushes back by limiting access to other resources that the instigator of tariffs needs for stability in his country. At the end of the day, the consumer pays the price just like farmers did in Trump's first term which cost America billions of dollars and losing its position as a world agriculture trade leader...with Brazil rising fast to possibly take the 2nd spot at the top of the hill. wrbtrader
@Nine_Ender @wrbtrader https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2024/12/trump-drops-hammer-trudeau-tariffs-if-canada-cant/ Trump Drops the Hammer on Trudeau Over Tariffs: ‘If Canada Can’t Survive Without Ripping Off the U.S., Maybe It Should Become the 51st State!’ Doocy reported on Fox News: “Tonight we’re getting some new details about that Trump-Trudeau dinner from two people who were at the table. We’re told that when Trudeau told President-elect Trump that new tariffs would kill the Canadian economy, Trump joked to him that if Canada can’t survive without ripping off the U.S. to the tune of $100 billion per year, then maybe Canada should become the 51st state, and Trudeau can become its governor.”
So you think a massive amount of trade doesn't deserve any diplomacy ? Go ahead put on the 25% tariff on all Canadian exports. I want to see maximum pain for US industry and consumers. It certainly doesn't seem that hard to fool the American public on this stuff. George W. Bush engineered a war with Iraq simply by telling you all that they had WMDs which was a big lie. Trump wants to start a massive trade war by making false statements about Canada's border security and the false narrative that we are 'ripping you off' by trading with you. Trump is vindictive and irrational in nature. So are some of you on here.
Fox and Trump know their audience, and pander to it in all matters. Trump is also the guy who constantly 'joked' about sexually assaulting woman for years. He's since been convicted of such actions. The real question here is not whether Trump is capable of enacting highly destructive policy, it's what other Americans will do about it once he does.
That is a lie and misinformation. You are clearly completely ignorant wrt the law and shouldn't make comments about a subject that you have demonstrated that you know nothing about. No, the real question is how far will Trudeau bend over and how much will he cave on. The highest probability is that Trudeau will submit like a good little bitch and no tariffs will be enacted.
Correct, Trump is a 34x convicted felon and enough Americans did not care about Trump's criminal activities. It's now the legacy of the United States that many around the world has suspected about its "Law in Order" hypocrisy as if it's shit doesn't smell. Yes...Trump is capable of enacting a highly destructive 25% tariff policy because he doesn't like the fact that +21,000 illegal immigrants (a large percentage of them from India) have crossed the northern border (aka 49th Parallel). Simply, as a President, you do not start a trade war with another country because of illegal immigrants. Instead, you convince the other country to have better security on their side of the border and do the same on your side. Canada and the United States have critical trade relationships. That trade relationship accounts for billions of dollars in consumer goods crossing the border from both countries...every day. Just as important, thousands of jobs in both countries are dependent on that trade relationship. As I stated before, Trudeau would have been a better fit in trade relationships had Harris won but I'm with most Canadians that Poilievre is a better fit in trade relationships with Trump even though both are conservatives...being a conservative in the United States is greatly different than a conservative in Canada. Poilievre is way ahead in the polls and will most likely be the one that will be dealing with Trump in their trade relationship. That's why I mention the specific differences rather than commonalities between the conservatives of Canada instead of between the Liberals in the two countries even though I did not vote for Trudeau and will not vote for Trudeau in the future...he served his purpose for Canada. Poilievre has a better plan for protecting Canada's revenue and jobs. Quebec Quebec is a major destination for commodities from Newfoundland and New Brunswick. Hydro Quebec is one of the largest players in the exchange of power between Canada and the United States. Ontario The proximity of Ontario to the Great Lakes and the American Midwest has led to American investment in the region, including the development of an automobile industry in Windsor. Ontario is also a major exporter of goods. British Columbia The growth of the Pacific Rim economies has benefited British Columbia. British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority (BC Hydro) is one of the largest players in the exchange of power between Canada and the United States. Alberta Alberta is a major exporter of goods and has large energy trade surpluses. Alberta and Saskatchewan account for the majority of Canadian crude oil exports. New Brunswick New Brunswick has large energy trade surpluses and is a major exporter of refined petroleum products. Manitoba Manitoba is a leader in removing barriers to trade. The biggest trade between the two countries... Canada and the U.S. are each other's principal sources of imported energy (oil, natural gas, clean electricity, uranium). It's a two-way energy trade that reached $198.2 billion in 2023. Canada registers a year-on-year surplus in trade in energy (in 2023 CAD$134 billion). In other words, Canada sells the U.S. more energy than the U.S. sells energy to Canada. On top of that, Canada has other options for selling energy to other countries whereas the United States has fewer options for selling its energy to other countries with the fact it's instigating a trade war with its shitting tariff policy plan. The United States has experienced devasting blackouts (see the video I posted in an earlier reply) that have cost us billions of dollars and it impacted key markets in the trade relationship...more negative impacts on the U.S. side than the Canadian side. Poilievre discussed this many years ago about the leverage Canada has in these key trade markets. Poilievre says he’d fight Trump economic policies, tariffs ‘with fire’ Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre vowed to “fight fire with fire” and address U.S. president-elect Donald Trump’s economic protectionism, he told radio host Jas Johal on Corus Radio station CKNW in Vancouver on Friday – Nov 16, 2024 https://globalnews.ca/news/10872407/poilievre-trump-tariffs-immigration-us-canada/ At the above link, talks about two critical markets to the U.S. economy that I have intentionally not mentioned in this thread....investments and lumber. As a trader and with a few friends here in Canada who manage hundreds of millions in investment dollars that flow from the Canadian side to the United States... In 2023, Canada invested $671.67 billion in the United States through foreign direct investment (FDI).This was an increase from $575.63 billion in 2022, $548.03 billion in 2021, and $487.45 billion in 2020. Canada is the second-largest source of FDI in the United States, while the United States is the top source of FDI in Canada. I've seen the impact on the U.S. markets when that investment trade slows down or shuts down for a few days. I'll rephrase that statement, the United States needs to invest more in the Canadian markets than vice versa because of the currency exchange rate difference. I know this very well as a person who owns a home in both countries...I send more money than normal in U.S. dollars when sending it to my Canadian bank whenever the exchange rate pops above 1.35 Don't forget Trump's desire to make the United States a leader in the Crypto Currency market on top of the fact that Trump is invested in the crypto market with his family business venture (World Liberty Financial). Not discussed, Canada is a key player in that Trump wants U.S. crypto business to enter the Canadian markets because it will help U.S. businesses, especially his family business...it's leverage for Canada and Trump knows it and is trying to use the 25% tariff threat as a bargaining chip at the table...for things like illegal immigration (widely discussed), fentanyl (widely discussed) and Cryptocurrency (not discussed). Canada is securing cryptocurrency deals with top countries in the world in that market...UAE, Vietnam, India, Nigeria, and Indonesia. Trump wants the U.S. to be a big part of that to become the top dog in the cryptocurrency markets...he will need Canada's help to accomplish that. I see Elon Musk flying many times to Canada in the future because the U.S. needs something...we will be seeing more smiley faces between Poilievre/Musk or Poilievre/Trump while Canada strengthens its leverage and Trump secures his family business...screwing those that voted Trump a 2nd term. wrbtrader
Canada bans convicted felons from visiting the country. Hence Trump is banned from entering Canada and many other nations. Due to Trump's felonious history; the situation may have the appearance of Trudeau coming to Mara-a-Lago to kiss Trump's ring. The reality is that Trump can't visit Canada -- and Trudeau arrived in the U.S. to talk some common sense into Donald (which is hard to do). The U.S. and Canada have long withstanding trade relationships which are beneficial for both nations. Imposing wide-scale tariffs would be good for neither.
No tariffs being enacted actually means that Trump 'submitted' to Canada. You want so hard to claim a win, like Trump himself, that you've already invented a false narrative pre-event. Go ahead enact the tariffs let's see if you can back up that bark with real action. Good luck managing the fallout lol. Enjoy paying for it. The real question here is how badly you want to own yourself to supposedly save face.
