  4. Well, here's my issue with this. On one hand we have the return of a prisoner, Bergdahl, who is at a minimum returning under qestionable circumstances. Obama has a big conference with the parents on national TV for hug fest. Now we have a absolutely innocent guy gets his head sawed off and Obama comes out with a short this is really terrible news conference and returns to the golf course literally minutes later. Literally minutes after that the parents of Foley have their own news conference. So basically we see our president give a big welcome home and hug fest for the family of a suspected deserter, and the parents of the guy who just dies a truly horrible death get a, yeah that's tragic, where's my nine iron. Only a leftist can't see how the optics of this doesn't really play well.

Has nothing to do with left or right but of soldier vs journalist. We traded for the soldier because you don't leave one of your own behind, regardless of whether he's suspected of desertion or not. Granted some in the military would have been glad to leave him there to rot, but that would have meant abandoning a very old tradition.

  6. Wrong again DB.

We have a tradition, actually all civilized nations do, of swapping prisoners after a declared war. The taliban have no sovereign status under international law. They are no different from somali pirates.

We also have a firm policy of not negotiating with terrorists. We had a firm policy of not trading terrorists for hostages.

We had three principles in at least partial conflict. If Obama had acted in accordance with the law, he might have brought some congressmen around to his viewpoint. Instead, he made things worse by acting unilaterally, like a dictator. The fact that he released five of the absolute worst terrorists on the planet in exchange for a deserter seemed so disproportionate that his motivation had to come under question.

Oh damn!! I laughed loudly, but it's also rather cold, and sure as hell true! And I'll have to say, I can no longer find words that sum up Obama, and the entire nightmare we've been in since 08. There just aren't words IMO anymore that can IMO that sum it all up..:(
