Well -- if your definition of a "banana republic" is one with a proper operating justice system that even holds the powerful accountable -- then this may be so. In the meantime let's outline that Trump is being indicted on felony charges, not misdemeanors. And let's see if he tries to flee...
He is being indicted on a felony charge because the statute of limitations has run on the misdemeanor. The only way they can extend it is to elevate it to a felony by tying it to a felony crime. So Bragg is alleging that the hush money or non-filing of business expenses was to further the felony of campaign violations - except those are federal crimes not in Bragg's jurisdiction. Very messy right out of the gate. Trump defense should move for a summary dismissal as soon as charges are filed.
Interesting flip flop by DeSantis -- who earlier implied Florida would have not take steps to stop extradition. Let's see how things work out.
Banana Republic rulers complement and do deals with other Banana Republic rulers. Gee what politician fits that profile in this country? Lock him up.
