  1. 'Abundant evidence' shows Trump engaged in insurrection and cannot hold office: conservative scholars

Two conservative constitutional law professors have concluded that Donald Trump cannot be president again unless two-thirds of Congress votes to give him amnesty for leading an insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021.

The New York Timespublished the results from the University of Chicago's William Baude and the University of St. Thomas' Michael Stokes Paulsen.

Baude told the paper they were initially unsure whether a constitutional provision against running for office applied to Trump. The Constitution states that anyone who took an oath of office cannot hold office if they "have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof."

"People were talking about this provision of the Constitution," Baude said. "We thought: 'We're constitutional scholars, and this is an important constitutional question. We ought to figure out what's really going on here.' And the more we dug into it, the more we realized that we had something to add."

The findings are set to be published next year in The University of Pennsylvania Law Review article.

"Donald Trump cannot be president — cannot run for president, cannot become president, cannot hold office — unless two-thirds of Congress decides to grant him amnesty for his conduct on Jan. 6," the article concludes, according to the Times.

Paulsen argued that the article could lead to "a lawsuit presenting a vital constitutional issue that potentially the Supreme Court would want to hear and decide."

Both Baude and Paulsen are members of the conservative Federalist Society. They said there was "abundant evidence" that Trump participated in an insurrection.

The fascist Georgia GOP voted to oust any prosecutor in anticipation of Fani Willis doing her job. It's likely she pushed it as long as she could since that goes into effect in a few weeks and she may be off the case entirely by then. Plays nicely to be the martyr.

John Dean Needs Just 5 Blunt Words To Sum Up New Trump Indictment

    Lee Moran

John Dean, who served as White House counsel to President Richard Nixon, on Monday summed up the latest indictment of former President Donald Trump by saying: “It’s much bigger than Watergate.”

Trump was indicted in Georgia on charges he conspired to pressure election officials to overturn his 2020 defeat.

“It’s of a whole different dimension. It goes to the very foundation of democracy,” Dean said of the racketeering case against Trump.

“Nixon abused some powers, he exceeded his authority when he shouldn’t, but he wasn’t taking on the basics of the country,” he told CNN’s Kaitlan Collins.

“Trump wanted to stay in office,” he added. “He wanted to use Georgia and abuse Georgia as part of that plan, so this is very different and much more serious and much more troubling.”

Dean suggested it was “very likely” that one or more of those indicted with Trump — including former Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani and former Trump White House chief of staff Mark Meadows — would flip and cooperate with prosecutors.

Dean cooperated with Nixon investigators, earning distinction as Watergate’s “master manipulator.

Judge brutally rejects Trump request for yet another trial delay: 'Completely without merit'
    https://www.rawstory.com/donald-trump-fraud-2664991919/

A New York judge quickly dismissed a last-minute request by Donald Trump to delay his bank and tax fraud trial in New York.

The former president's attorneys asked for a three-week halt so the judge can rule on requests from both New York attorney general Letitia James and Trump for a summary judgment in the $250 million civil suit, but Justice Arthur F. Engoron scrawled a nine-word response, reported The Daily Beast.

“Decline to sign; Defendants’ arguments are completely without merit,” Engoron wrote on the draft order, signing with his initials.

Trump and his family are scheduled to stand trial in less than four weeks in the trial for allegedly inflating the value of their assets and lying on official paperwork to gain a financial advantage.

Trump fraudulently overstated the value of his properties by over $2.2 Billion in order to improperly get loans from banks — including paying off appraisers to put in false numbers. Many of the loans he defaulted on leaving the banks and others to hold the bag.

If you did this to the bank holding the mortgage on your home then you certainly would be held both criminally and civilly liable. Explain to us why Trump should be treated differently for this behavior.
