I agree with you for the most part.If the value of perks is in the hundreds of thousands of dollars range,which cars,private school and NY apartments can be the penalty could be big.I would agree that this is a play to make Weisselberg flip on Trump.
For most companies this type of charge would only lead to a large fine and parole for the executives involved. Since this is the Trump organization in a high profile case -- the charges against Weisselberg are just an attempt to get him to flip IMO. The charges against the Trump organization itself are just being used to extract large criminal fines.
And the media is only too willing to help by publishing fake news stories that Trump is delighted with the charges---- in order to influence Weisselberg.
You do realize that it is Trump's own words that he is thrilled with the charges because it will hurt Sleepy Joe.
