Someone mentioned to me that they thought PPL was a possible takeover target, and just yesterday I found some data that makes it a strong possibility. Monday, PPL stock shoots up on no news, Tuesday, somebody buys 800 contracts of PPL July 45 calls.. a contract that otherwise has practically zero volume (and only 106 open interest as of closing on Monday.. now the open interest is close to 1000). Similiar events occured with the TXU buyout, stock shoots up for no reason, and there's higher then usual option volume w/ large block trades to buy calls. Well, if you see PPL being bought out in the next month or 2, somebody's going to jail for that 800 contract trade
