  1. You managed to take ideas and broad statements of mine and twist them into something completely different.

The futures put thing was an example of another career IN trading I will enjoy. Many of you see what we do as the only type of trading around. WAKE THE FUCK UP PEOPLE, we are small fish in the global financial markets. How is trading in the pits day trading? Filling client orders? Yeah, potentially filling a proprietary order, but thats really not what most people would consider 'day trading' if you said that word to them. Smarten up,Danny Boy.

If you compared day traders average income to an exec at a fortune 500 firm....fuck it, Im not gonna even get into comparing salaries. Its not jsut about salaries, its about doing something in your life more progressive than simply trading all day. DOnt get me wrong, I would probably trade actively too since I love it, but I would love to leave something behind that I have built besides just a bank account. Wouldnt you?

    Why waste time with daytrading, Danny boy? 1) $ 2) experience....get a trading job at an MM....etc (3) $
Im just finishing my CFA, and I could either flip burgers to pay the bills why studying, or daytrade. What would you choose, Dan?

Yeah Ive worked for bosses, etc too....that quotation was a mockery of the simplistic way many people on this board regard working for a big corporation....yeah its has some major downfalls, but also some big advantages.

How is daytrading not gonna be around any more? Hmmm...do you think the bucket shops in 1900 ever thought they would be shut down? Like you said, floor traders probably never thought they would lose their jobs on some exchanges (but once again, witty little dan dan took me literally that I really reallly wanted to be a floor trader, and thats all I want to be. oh god oh jesus please can I be?) Shit is changing, daniel. Would you bet money on the fact that daytrading would exist as we know it in 30 years. I wouldnt.

The bottom line here folks is that keep your options open, and if youre young, explore other things having to do with trading and markets while you are trading. Dont sit back, and fuck around after the market closes. Study the market, your trades. Take an executive MBA, a CFA, whatever. I have finished 2 levels of CFA while day trading in 2 years, and almost have my Derivatives Markets Specialist (DMS) certification as well. Keep your options open, and always strive for the next thing, without knowing what it may be.

    Silver,

That's great that you are thinking like this. Especially at your age.
Always keep your options open until you really know what you want out of life. Education in all of its form are crucial too. Acdemic and life and market educations will keep things interesting and keep your GROWING!
