  1. I am curious as well. You seem extremely knowledgable on preparedness and economics. Have you written a book?

  2. I think it is all a matter of degrees.
    There are many possibilities.
Based on the condition of the country ...
depression and/or collapse are possible, unlikely but nevertheless possible.

Hungry, thirsty and threatened people will become anxious and possibly volatile
and lose their sense of moral boundary in times of desperation.

    This is human nature.

5 self protective weapons are wise:
    - Pepper spray
    - Stun gun
    - Handgun
    - Shotgun
    - Semi-auto Rifle that can use 20+ round mags and is accurate to 400+ yards open sight and/or scoped. (AR-15 or M1A)

3 of the above is really a minimum.
The advantage to the guns is obvious. Each has it's function and distance.
However the advantages for pepper spray and stun gun are that they can save lives (Yours and others)
and if an event happens ... you don't have to wait around for police.

If security police breakdown is gradual ... these may be the protective insurance of choice.

If security police breakdown is complete ... it may be necessary to use more drastic measures and form communities of mutual protection.

    I would suggest an S&W J-Frame .38 special with
a Galco behind the back belt holster and a
Crimson Trace laser in the handle.
Get 2 speed loaders and practice.

Use cheapo ammo for practice and keep the good ammo in it for self defense.

Get one with a hammer and preferably ultralight or titanium.

Remember it is the weapon that is on you that you need ... not one at home hidden.

Pick one up in whatever neighboring state that sells without any paperwork.

These tiny handguns are about the size of a fully loaded wallet and are light weight.

Oh ... have someone well educated in firearms handling teach you.

  3. Why does the business of trading attract so many fringe lunatics?

It seems in the last few years all the trading boards have been over-whelmed with these people. Looks like these slow individuals have just discovered the internet and are now taking over. Kind of like what happened to the political landscape.

The bigger question is: Why are there so many of these lunatics?

lack of self control and rampant breeding and high survival rates in this population group because of advanced medical systems?

  4. just because you call everyone else here insane it must mean that you are not?! :p

I live in the DC area, it's obvious that most people around here are mentally ill, but because they work in government jobs they try very hard to hide it, still it shows

anyhow so you think a retard like barney frank is more sane than the average ET member, if that's your assumption then you're fucking retarded

  6. +1

I am very conservative and none of my friends considers me to be a fringe lunatic. Most people think everything is okay because they do not understand economics and are reassured by the fact that the stock market has risen in the last year.

However, I believe that anyone who truly understands the current world economic situation as well as the insane way that governments are dealing with it and cannot agree that there is at least the possiblility of an economic collapse, is irrational.

  7. Might try looking in the mirror when you ask that.

  8. I plan on gradually changing the coarse of my business from application development in the microsoft environment to customization of solutions and applications developed for mass serialization, ie SAP solutions for auto-id

If 9.11 was enough to get the government to pass the patriot act, create the retarded tsa and implement those revealing full-body scanners without anyone being able to say shit to them, another crisis (ie civil uprising or war within a region of the country) will be enough to get the control freak government to implement mass serialization on a social level, rfid is the future, because we live in times where stupid control freak governments just can't get enough, and with the tools they have at hand (mainly the stupidity of the majority and scaring the shit out of them) they are capable of pulling off most everything

I agree with you that major economic problems are very likely and will change how various major economies operate. however, I do not feel like this type of shift will lead to the level of social unrest where guns and food are key like some people seem to believe.

  10. People ... People ... don't be bothered by this idiot.
It is clear he isn't well educated nor researched.

I'm sure he has several types of insurance and simply cannot fathom
that there are other insuring behaviors called preparation.

Some go too far and get paranoid and don't live their life and enjoy it due to irrational fears.

The news is very bad ... but heck ... the news has always been very bad.

So be prepared to your comfort level, stay informed, and when tards
such as this guy show up unprepared ... be gracious to whatever level you can.

If there manners like the above post and they are ill tempered ... provide the proper commensurate response.

This is fitting in this situation and times of duress.
