Is it possible to buy the 12% yielding bonds like a stock? I mean without putting up a huge amount. is it possible to buy say just 1k worth of it? Or how would an individual buy those bonds? Is it possible to buy on margin like with a futures contract? Like put up 5k to control 100k of the bonds I'm curious.. 12% is pretty good. Probably yield chasers will take the big loss but still curious
you probably mean is it possible for retail US investor ? probably not. maybe some ETF/ETN from big houses?
On interactive brokers you can buy highly rated bonds at 10x leverage. Lower rated bonds at 4x leverage. But IB mostly has corporate bonds. You should look into bonds, you can find some blue chips with with 11% yields with healthier risk profiles than Italy.

Futures on them are on Eurex. I was tempted last week when they were at 7%. Could be going to 50% on their way to default though.
