Portugal wants you

    You clearly have critical reading problems among others. Are your parents related? Is that why you have such a hard time understanding?

    I already said the Portuguese authorities would have an individual's address on file. They will know that on account of your legal visa status that is non tourism.

    How would the non EU brokerage share information to the EU if the non EU brokerage doesn't know you are in the EU?

    I reiterate my statement: you clearly don't know shit.

    True. However there are very big loopholes. In fact, your links outline them.
    I have the opposite experience. No issues at all. DM me if you need help.

  5. Couldn't we make a board only for the serious members that have been discussing and posting here for years, so we don't have to put up with this?

  6. Sintra is very cool. I went up along and windy road in the fog and emerged in monkey god palace. Then we went down the wrong way on some private property and saw some amazing carvings water works etc. The tile is very good. I Brought two antique tiles home. The Algrave beach area is a tad weird... I could go on. I could live in Sintra though. Good gardening.

    Hello all.

    I very rarely write in forums.

    I was reading this thread out of curiosity.

    I am a 55 year old Portuguese citizen living in Portugal, was born and lived for 35 years full time in Lisbon and since 20 years ago I have been living in Algarve most of the time and some time in Lisbon.

    So let me save you some time and help on your decision:

    If you are searching for a country that:
    - Has good weather most of the time;
    - Has a profound "caviar" socialist mentality;
    - Has union organized strikes every other day and paralise everything you can imagine;
    - Has one of the highest levels of corruption;
    - Has one of the lowest productivity levels per capita;
    - Has a giant public and private depth and is often sinking like the Titanic (with the music still playing and all the new rich complex) and always needing to be bailed out every few years, just to get to the same situation again and again;
    - With a health care service (public and private) getting worse and worse by the day, where people have to wait months / years for a doctor's appointment and / or urgent surgery (too many die just waiting...);
    - With public services that would shame any developed society;
    - With one of the highest (real) fiscal tax load in the world (disguised all over the place);
    - Is currently governed by shameless people that will tell you whatever you want to hear to get your vote and will promise you one thing just to do the exact opposite, lying with all their teeth;
    - That has recently proposed a law to tremendously increase the tax on Trading earnings because "these guys are the capitalists and speculators that cause all the problems in the country";

    I could carry on and on, but I hope that's enough to make my point...

    So, if this is the kind of country you are looking for, you are surely welcome in Portugal, because the government is always hungry to lure some more "ducks" to eat alive.

    Just google "portuguese leaving their country".
    Portugal has one of the highest emigration numbers (fourth highest) in Europe. Almost 15% in 2017 left the country and numbers go still up. People leave the country to get a better live elsewhere.

    That sounds awful, one wonders why you wouldn't have take advantage of the ability to live and work anywhere in the EU if it was all bad as you describe?
