Portfolio Manager for Financial Planner

Discussion in 'Professional Trading' started by sectrader, Dec 8, 2005.

  1. Now, I am successful trader (for my own account).

I am thinking how to enter into money management, specifically - how would I look for clients.

My latest idea - become portfolio manager for financial planners.
Can anybody comment? Does outsourcing of portfolio management exist? Seems to exist as I see from financial planning web sites and books. Or I can do portfolio management from inside existing financial planning firm. Will it be possible to enter this field? Caveat: I can't go and start on the entry level job in the firm since I am making much more money. I am willing to take examinations CFP, CFA, etc. - if it gives me big chance to being able introduce myself as portfolio manager to financial planners.
May be somebody who is working and used to work as financial planner can give me idea if it feasible and what needed to be done.
    Thank you.
