Maverick, I think you're right that it would be wise for Al Quaeda not to attack us the way they have in the past. However, I don't think Al Quaeda are a wise organization. They are clever and resourceful, but not wise. Just look at their motives. No wisdom there. Al Quaeda seems to lean more towards an obscession with symbolism rather than wisdom. They attacked the WTC and Pentagon because they symbloized western power. And now that they've done it with aircraft, the airplane itself has come to symbolize that "glorious" event. And the recent cancellation of flights seems to suggest that they are still obscessed with that kind of attack. I'm sure a coercive hijacking is a thing of the past. No way passengers would just sit there and die without a fight. But blowing up airplanes or subduing the passengers and crew thru non-coercive means such as poison gasses could be something they would still attempt. I think it would be difficult for them to pull off, but that doesn't mean they won't try.

  2. OK....so if the ports are secure....the airlines are secure....the borders are secure....what happens when somebody decides to go after trains? Buses? Bridges? highways? Daytona 500? superbowl? .....unfortunately this is the new reality we live in...there will always be something you never thought of.

"they drew us into a fight" .....Al Qaida didnt plan this....you think al qaida knew we would attack Iraq for 9-11??? thats a good one Mav man..... Bush did this on his own....

I agree with you as far as computer terrorism is concerend....but i disagree that this will be the only way....i think securing our ports is vital to our safety....

  5. We should be concerned about terrorism. However, we should also be concerned about all the international activities over the last 60 years that got us into this mess. IMHO this mess is going to last for a very long time and drain resources from this country for generations to come unless we change our ways.

  7. Funny how TM-Direct would associate the Nation's economic well-being and infrastructure to that of the Superbowl and Daytona 500!

Now that's absolutely absurd, and one of the stupidest things that I have ever heard proclaimed on ET.

    :D

  8. Absurd????? the President will also be in attendance at the 500, along with 250k people.....so I will ask again: what would be a better target?...a tanker in Newport or the 500??? Are all people from Claifornia this ignorant or do you just have a corner on the market?

  9. Oh . . . my poor old buddy TM.
You are always such an easy target, I must say!

Did you not just get finished posting a sarcastic comment as to when all of the "security-consciousness" will stop?

    Quote from TM-Direct:

OK....so if the ports are secure....the airlines are secure....the borders are secure....what happens when somebody decides to go after trains? Buses? Bridges? highways? Daytona 500? superbowl? .....unfortunately this is the new reality we live in...there will always be something you never thought of.

Do you have a problem with spending a substantial amount of money to insure that are commerce and borders are secure. No, on second thought - - - don't answer that!

You are without a doubt, a total moron.

  10. Right...please tell us all again how the whole world revolves around California....I know...they have the 3rd largest economy........my point was simply that their will always be a target, and you want to worry about the ports and thus started a thread....no wonder california is in bad shape....morons like you running around...
