POLL: What is the World's Most Evil Religion?

Discussion in 'Religion and Spirituality' started by candletrader, Nov 29, 2003.

  1. I am saying even proportionally that more religious people recruit and push their views than non-religious people. Indeed, their are no Jehova's Witnesses of Atheism or violent, murdering Atheist Jihads. No, I'm not saying most religious people push their views, because I don't think that's the case at all. I'm just saying, to rebut your earlier claim, that atheists and agnostics are at least as respectful on average than religious people.

  3. If he was actually ignoring stupidity, that would be one thing. I contend that is not what he is doing at all.

Calling someone stupid is an indication that one's argument is not strong enough to accomplish the job on its own. One who can make a stronger argument for all to see need never resort to name calling. Name calling is a sign of immaturity, and an indicator that someone has lost their composure and has given into base and primitive emotion. Ridicule of someone also falls into the category of attacking the person, which is done when one cannot attack the argument effectively.

Frustration is an emotional response, not a rational one. Computers don't get frustrated, they simply process information according to programming and logic. No emotion required.

You are not really defending someone calling another person names, are you? Name calling is generally considered childish behavior. You are not excusing bad manners and immature behavior in the name of personal frustrations, are you?

  4. Hey Boat:

This is tongue in cheek, but

    1) wouldn't a guy who makes a site like www.christianburner.com qualify as a 'Jehovah's Witness of Atheism' and an extremely bitter one at that? Hating God/christians/religion is the favorite pastime of lots of folks.

    2) given that statism is essentially atheism in a concentrated form, couldn't Stalin and others like him be considered to have conducted one of the most violent, murdering 'atheist jihads' in history? And what else would you call it when a government like China's consistently oppresses religious activity and actively imprisons and murders religious leaders for 'stirring up dissent?' a rose by any other name...

That said I generally agree with both your first and last sentences, though I think the phrases 'push their views' and 'respectful' both need further examination within context to unpack the hidden assumptions within.

  5. Didn't we fight a war in Vietnam against communism for pushing their "Godless" ideas on the world?

Wasn't the entire cold war all about stopping the "Godless" Soviet Union and communism as a whole?

  7. yeah his website is as absurd as axeman's misguided attempts at a critique of Scripture.:p

I still say that GA won the debate. He answered axemans questions about those Scriptures but axeman never responded back. axeman thought he had stumped GA but instead got stomped along with his foolish arguments.

Oh how I enjoy reading GA's response to axemans worthless drivel. BWHAHAAHHAHAHH! lol.

WOW what a sore loser! :p

Nice comeback GA way to go!
You said it alot better than I could have done.
    Thank You.

  8. How sweet. The theists get together and hold hands
and declare themselves the winner! LMAOOO!!!

Talk about prideful and pompous! Oh...and add hypocritical!

Now lets look at these SEVERE delusions:

    1) He answered axemans questions about those Scriptures

FALSE. Try pointing them out. You cant...because it never happened.

    2) axeman thought he had stumped GA but instead got stomped along with his foolish arguments.

More delusions. GA has been picked to pieces and his
complete lack of reasoning ability has clearly been pointed
    out SEVERAL times.

It is clear that GA is one of the worst debators that has
ever shown up ET. Missed the boat explained it perfectly.
Arguing with people who can only debate on a little childs
level is beyond frustrating because logical arguements
    go straight over their head.

    So whats the point?

They get stomped point for point and STILL believe they are winning! LMAO :D

    Run along little children.

    peace

  9. Strawman.

When the crusaders killed they stated IN THE NAME OF GOD
    and chopped their heads off.

Communists were not motivated by their atheism to kill.

They didnt run around killing FOR their atheism, or BECAUSE
their atheism told them to, unlike the biblical followers.

I might as well claim that HITLER the catholic killed
all those jews BECAUSE HE WAS CATHOLIC.

The correlation is a flase one in both cases.

    Nice try.

    peace

  10. Didn't we fight a war in Vietnam against communism for pushing their "Godless" ideas on the world?

Yes, we did in fact fight a war against Vietnam against communist aggression. We fought to stop the communists from pushing their ideas onto others, which were in fact Godless. Their ideology was without any belief in God, thus Godless.

Wasn't the entire cold war all about stopping the "Godless" Soviet Union and communism as a whole?

Yes, the entire cold war was about stopping the Soviet Union and communism as a whole, that is an accepted fact. Their ideology was in fact Godless, and based in Marxism. Marx was an atheist, who detested religion.

"Religion is the opiate of the masses."

    ------Karl Marx-----

One of the very first steps taken once communists took over a country was to ban religion and religious practices.

Is this to say that their atheism was at the foundation of their communist ideology?

    That point is debatable.

The fact that atheism was a central component of communism as preached and practiced by the communists during the cold war is not debateable, it is a fact.
