POLL: Trade to make money or maximum profit?

Do you trade to:
make money or to make maximum profit?

 

What a confusing question. I trade for 'some' profits.

 

Interesting. After a week or so, its 2:1 in favor of making money vs maximizing profit.

So, can anyone explain all the fierce discussions here on ET regarding "superior" trading styles or techniques, as well as the self-deprecating topics about leaving money on the table, getting stopped out, etc?

Of course to answer that question you need to understand the subtle difference between making money and maximizing profit. My guess, many poll-takers are not being honest.

Or many of them were honest[trading contest goal is maximize profits];
because the way the title question is narrowed to really 2 choices,
and most new traders focus on maximizing profit & blowing up.

most arent specific enough/clear enough for me to be honest.
