I agree and am deeply sorry: of course I should not have used that insulting word for the Vietnamese army, so much loved by your troups before they got kicked out, the "Viet Cong" (short of "gooks"). That is an unforgiveable mistake. My apologies. The term Viet Cong was only in use be certain quarters until the end of what the Vietnamese people call the "American War". When the "VC" were in full control over the whole country, I agree that term, despicable as it was during the war, became completely meaningless. Vietnam's invasion of Cambodia also heightened tensions that already existed between Vietnam and China. Beijing, which had like the US shamefully long backed the Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia, retaliated in early 1979 by initiating a border war with Vietnam. As I said, even the glorious People's Liberation Army of China got a black eye then, and the issue ended with a Chinese retreat. Apart from my misuse of the word "VC": do you have any further questions on Vietnam? Or do Americans only remember the name for her own MIAs?

Its presence along the Chinese border tied down at least 400,000 Chinese troups or 9 armies: not much considering the fact that China has so many people. Well, "idiot," no one is disputing those facts, however, your mention of the VC vs. China was in the context of the 1965-1973 US conflict.
No change of position.... the USA is attacking Iraq to gain effective control of Iraqi oil and is becoming increasingly internationally isolated because of this... the installation of a US-friendly puppet is the most likely longer-term route (as this will invalidate Saddam's existing oil contracts with Russia and France) but, in the interim, General Tommy Franks would probably assume responsibility for the establishment of US military bases around Iraq, the official reason being to "fight terrorism"... Whatever strategies (proxies, direct interim rule or some combination) the US uses, the bottom line is oil... This whole game is music to the ears of the oil and Jewish lobbies... but at least there is a healthy dose of skepticism within mainstream America... who knows, perhaps the skepticism could grow to the levels that we had during our attack on Nam, eh ? The real tragedy is that we are sending our guys 'n girls in to potentially die for a combination of US oil interests and other lobbies... If only our guys 'n girls knew that they were putting their lives on the line for the potent combination of the oil and Jewish lobbies, maybe they would have serious second thoughts about this whole thing...
