  1. Fine, but your premise doesn't stop an open offer of land by Israel. Sure, let the Palistinians whine about it not being enough or in the wrong location for perhaps the reason of your premise. However, make the offer, put the entire Arab world on the spot.

I agree and am deeply sorry: of course I should not have used that insulting word for the Vietnamese army, so much loved by your troups before they got kicked out, the "Viet Cong" (short of "gooks"). That is an unforgiveable mistake. My apologies.

The term Viet Cong was only in use be certain quarters until the end of what the Vietnamese people call the "American War". When the "VC" were in full control over the whole country, I agree that term, despicable as it was during the war, became completely meaningless.

Vietnam's invasion of Cambodia also heightened tensions that already existed between Vietnam and China. Beijing, which had like the US shamefully long backed the Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia, retaliated in early 1979 by initiating a border war with Vietnam. As I said, even the glorious People's Liberation Army of China got a black eye then, and the issue ended with a Chinese retreat.

Apart from my misuse of the word "VC": do you have any further questions on Vietnam? Or do Americans only remember the name for her own MIAs?

Thank you "max401": if the 401 is a missspelling of IQ 40.1 you may have got your facts almost 20% right.
I should be proud of having been outed as an idiot by an intellectual giant like you. Thank you for the "idiot", you idiot!

But back to the facts about the conflict between Vietnam and China. Probably if Mr Wild had not been removed from this thread, he could have contributed some more sources. Suffice it here for me to show you to one site:
http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/ops/war/prc-vietnam.htm, and there especially to what the American writer Gerald Segal- yes, there are intelligent and truth-loving people in America!!!- had to say: China failed to force a Vietnamese withdrawal from [Cambodia], failed to end border clashes, failed to cast doubt on the strength of the Soviet power, failed to dispel the image of China as a paper tiger, and failed to draw the United States into an anti-Soviet coalition."

There are more details which show the efficacy of the Vietnamese Army. Its presence along the Chinese border tied down at least 400,000 Chinese troups or 9 armies: not much considering the fact that China has so many people. But quite an achievement for a small country like Vietnam.

Yours faithfully from a "gook" aka "idiot"

  5. Fairplay! You're back! Where's your master Wild? It hasn't been the same without you guys - really. Such easy targets don't come around so often, although Candle has been filling that role quite well in your absence by spouting his oil/imperialist mantra.

Well, welcome back, you masochist you! :)

And please enlighten us with your claim that Wild was banned from this thread. When did that happen?

  6. If America's attack on Iraq is not about oil, then September 11th was actually nothing more than a series of unrelated accidents... get real!! ROFL :D

God Bless the people of America... they surely need it...

  7. About oil or about taking over Iraq to get the oil? The former would be a change of position for you.

  8. Well, "idiot," no one is disputing those facts, however, your mention of the VC vs. China was in the context of the 1965-1973 US conflict.

  9. Really? Where/when did this offer of land occur?

  10. No change of position.... the USA is attacking Iraq to gain effective control of Iraqi oil and is becoming increasingly internationally isolated because of this... the installation of a US-friendly puppet is the most likely longer-term route (as this will invalidate Saddam's existing oil contracts with Russia and France) but, in the interim, General Tommy Franks would probably assume responsibility for the establishment of US military bases around Iraq, the official reason being to "fight terrorism"...

Whatever strategies (proxies, direct interim rule or some combination) the US uses, the bottom line is oil...

This whole game is music to the ears of the oil and Jewish lobbies... but at least there is a healthy dose of skepticism within mainstream America... who knows, perhaps the skepticism could grow to the levels that we had during our attack on Nam, eh ?

The real tragedy is that we are sending our guys 'n girls in to potentially die for a combination of US oil interests and other lobbies...

If only our guys 'n girls knew that they were putting their lives on the line for the potent combination of the oil and Jewish lobbies, maybe they would have serious second thoughts about this whole thing...

War is inevitable... I pray for our brave soldiers and for the people of Iraq, who are both being subjected to the unseen motives of people working behind the scenes...

Moreover, I am fearful for the repercussions that will be thrust upon us as a result of this war... times are indeed worrying...

    God Bless mainstream America...
