This is a card I bought in Indonesia. It gives an idea of people's sentiments even in a moderate Islamic country.

  4. "Unwarranted aggression"? You have got to be kidding me. What was 9/11?

Innocent Americans have been targets overseas for a very long time, and for a variety of reasons. This isn't a sudden development due to the current crisis.

Um, hello?!? Bush hasn't used those weapons of mass destruction on his own people, he hasn't invaded his neighbors, he doesn't pay the families of suicide bombers money, his children aren't sadistic torturers and rapists (they're too busy sneaking into bars), etc., etc. Comparing Bush to Saddam is plain idiotic.

You love the US? Why? Could it be that if it weren't for us you, your family, your entire country would be speaking German or Russian? (sorry if you ARE German or Russian! But if you're German, I just gotta tell ya, your Chancellor is an idiot). And whether or not you really do love the US (it sure doesn't sound like it), who are you to tell us that we can't defend ourselves?!? YOU weren't attacked on 9/11.

Okay, tell you what. Come over here and let me smash you in the face with a sledgehammer a few times. After that I'll threaten to kill your family by any means possible. Sound good? I just know you'll want to shake my hand and invite me to date your daughter after that, won't you?

So, Kicking, just for kicks (poor pun), please illuminate for us what you think the appropriate US response should be. Should be the first good joke of the New Year.

  5. hapaboy,

IRAQ DID NOT ATTACK THE US ON 9/11 ! If there is an idiot here you seem to be the one. Saddam is just an easy target because the war in Afghanistan failed to achieve its objective i.e eliminating Osama and the Al Qaida network. IMO the whole
idea of war against terrorism is nonsense you can't wage a war against terrorists because anybody can be a terrorist.

I am sick to see what the US (the Bush administration) is doing, I know there are many many Americans who share my views or most of it but you don't hear about them. You only hear the warmongers on Fox News, your favorite channel.

  6. I agree with this. It was the Saudis who attacked us on 9/11. The US is flexing its muscles against Iraq because it hasn't made significant progress against Osama and Saddam can't defend himself. North Korea is a much more credible threat, but the US is pussyfooting around the issue because the N. Koreans can turn Seoul into a smoldering pile of rubble. Iraq does not represent a threat to US national security because they can't defend themselves.

Also, the US doesn't really care if Saddam tortures his own people. This is just part of the media effort to sway public opinion in favor of an attack. Heck, the UN embargos against Iraq have killed millions more people than Saddam has and the US couldn't give a rat's ass. But this news is mysteriously absent from the media.

Don't get me wrong. I love this country. But the US should kick some ass in Saudi Arabia, Pakistan or North Korea before invading Iraq. If they really want to take out Saddam, just send in some Delta Force and Seal-types to do the trick. But don't commit the full military might of the US to bring down an emasculated dictator who's regime the US helped establish in the first place. This blatant hypocrisy and foreign policy double standards are the reasons for the prevailing Anti-American sentiments overseas (penis envy notwithstanding).

  9. Have you read the other posts in this thread?

Maybe they don't bother to express their opinions to someone who will attack them for not agreeing?
