I cannot but agree with you, Traderfut: the litigiousness of Americans is a real threat to civilisation. And you also mention kids being kidnapped by one of their parenst just from one US state to the next. Very often I think there is no love for the child in play, but hatred for the ex-lover, and the child is used as a weapon to hurt him/her: disgusting. By the way that much-touted book "Not without my daughter" is yet another case of an American citizen kidnapping a child from her father to the applause of all the do-gooders in the US: that kid was in Iran and treated in accordance with the law of the land. Just because you do not like anymore one country, does not give you the right to take the law in your own hands. That woman deserves to be sent to jail for a long time for an abominable crime
fairplay, Wild: were there "Arab" women 2000 years before the Mayflower? fairplay, there were indeed ... http://www.azaalcity.com/history.htm regards wild
The sadest thing is that this book became a best seller. A best seller written by a woman who stole her child. Thanks wild, I honestly did not know that. You are quite an educated man. But I think you will agree with me that the Arabs of those days were sort of a different breed of the Arabs nowadays, just like the greeks of those days were different from the ones nowadays. Or, for that matter: the Americans 2000 years ago were totally different from what we see as Americans nowadays...
And why did you want Elian to be away from his parents to become an americano??? Come on he is better with his father. Nobody can replace your parents and you know it. Even if they are poor hungry they will do whatever they can for their child. Concerning Saudia Arabia, I have never defended this country. It is certainly the most controversed country in the Arab world but for the USA that backs this family they represent stability for their interests. This is why they are untouchable for the time being and this is why the USA is certainly scared of a revolution inside this country. This could explain even the Invasion of Iraq that holds big oil resources. Personally I have no respect for their regim but all the Saudis are not alike the same for the israelis and for the americans....
Hey Cubano, from what I read Cuba is another country where not only some gringos are held, but also millions of Cubanos "against their will"! Get real man, the law is not the same everywhere, but you have to respect it. Unless of course you are an anarchist, but that's another story
That's for sure the american today are quite different than 200 years ago. And like you I am also astonished by Wild's culture??? Wild have you read Leon l'africain a book written by a lebanese Amin Maalouf. Very good . It deals with Spain in the 13/14th century and in this book there was a german character that was very well educated and met the great Hassan El Wazzan. This guy Hans, was against the Hierarchy of the church and there are some good explanation about how the protestantism was created.
That is false; The Only country to hold American Citizens agaisnt their will is Saudi Arabia ( obviously I am speaking about documented stories, not the ones no one knows about. ) ...there was a recent case of an American Woman taking her child away from the father and going to Cuba. Guess what "Mr. Get Real".. .the child is back.... "Cubanos held against their wil"l ....In a dictatorship anything can happen..Thats my original point to Aphie; America with as much faults as we have is a great country....
