  1. The parasites think they're getting "something (else) for free".

The politicos and Leftist elite care little of any healthcare aspects... what they really care about is power and control... and THAT is apparently worth ANY atrocity.

So? Large productivity gains in defense, where it's easy, and small productivity growth in social services which are harder to streamline. Couple those with an aging population and falling birthrate. And yet despite those forces, no one (of right mind) is starving or dying of exposure in this country. How can that be possible with a falling LFPR? Productivity. A growing mass of people are no longer necessary to provide even second tier necessities much less first tier necessities. If we want to keep the old rule for how to "get one's bread", then we need to start "making work".

  3. I disagree. The less our govt costs, the lower the cost of living. By "making work" we are raising the cost of living. In our system (and every other one), govt jobs are a net cost to society. Govt workers are paid with tax revenue, less govt employees and services = less taxes. people would have more opportunity with a lower cost of living and less regulatory red tape to find a niche and start their own business, or work a lower paying job and still get by. A job is not a right in America.

BTW, an aging pop and declining birthrate would help to alleviate increases in productivity, guess what wouldn't, immigration. Especially unrestricted illegal immigration. So again you try to have it both ways. How can immigrants be good for an economy that is so efficient it's native citizens can't find jobs? LOL

BTW again, if your post is supposed to be a reason for why those social programs have grown faster than defense, you are straight up delusional or being intentionally dishonest. This spending is not on jobs, but financial obligations the fed govt has taken upon itself, the cost of social programs (especially entitlements) has little to do with jobs and a lot to do with giving away opm.

Amongst all nations like us, i.e. the developed or "first" world, we have a small (probably the smallest) government already (which is amazing considering our position as empire). And it's shrinking (at this time). The table following the link handily includes tax burden:

I agree to some extent re immigration. But against the mass movements of people history shows us that nations "strive in vain", walls have never worked.

Student Cited By Ted Cruz As Proof Of Obama's Failure Is Actually Grateful For Obamacare

"During his 21-hour talkfest on the Senate floor earlier this week, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) went through a litany of examples that he said highlighted the abject failures of President Barack Obama's policies.

"One of them involved the case of John Connelly, a Rutgers student who found himself in debt, without a permanent job, and forced to sleep on his friend's couch. His story was one that was all too common in the age of Obama, Cruz concluded.

"Well, it turns out that Connelly isn't the biggest fan of Cruz. What's more, he is actually a beneficiary of the very health care law that Cruz was protesting during his speech. "

  6. 1) You're wrong according to your own chart. Spending as a % of GDP in the US is up there above several notable 1st world countries and only a few % points lower than many European socialist govts, and it has increased massively over time. Also, just because our tax burden is lower than most doesn't mean it couldn't be lower still. We have throughout most of our history had smaller govt and we made it to the top with a smaller govt than we have now. Several of those developed countries that tax/spend more than us are technically bankrupt, so what is your point?

    2) I guess i slept through that part of history class, when and in what nations did this happen?

Which only means that Connelly is an idiot, like you. It doesn't diminish what Cruz was saying, moron.
