What About Bob, funny movie. So did Bob every use that passion to do one thing in his life that he was happy? I believe those who have the endurance to overcome more likely will find their path and they have to have the passion to keep at it. But I think skills are learned as well as forming abilities through the skills. Do you believe if you wanted to become a doctor, you could? Much of it is memorizing in beginning, have to have endurance for this, and all have some skills and eventual abilities, but if you lack passion to learn more than passing, going to be a crummy doctor.
I remember walking past the visitors gallery one day on my way to the turnstiles at the CBOT. I overheard one of the younger college types point down through the glass and tell all her dorm buddies that 'all those traders had MBA's'. I was laughing so hard I caught my trading jacket on the turnstiles and ripped the shit out of it. Had to send my runner upstairs for more cards.
Funny you ask about my dear friend Bob. He ended up taking odd jobs and took care of his mom. His mom was inspirational, she worked at TD way back in the 50's in the mail room. Eventually became assistant to EVP, that told her to put every penny she can into TD stock. She retired wealthy. And Bob took the easy way in life and inherited everything and the family house. Are you familiar with Toronto real estate boom, our childhood homes, about 7 miles west of downtown Toronto close to the lake, current average about 2 mill. Some foreign girl latched onto Bob and won't let him out of her sight. hahaha True stroy...
People have set of existing skills and pursue for new skills or new level of existing skills. The kind of passion or interest or inspiration defines what new skills or new level of existing skills need to be developed. And the level or degree or intensity or depth of the passion defines the level of skills to be developed. Intuition and insights accompany inspiration to develop skills in a desired way. Genuine passion leads to ones own contentment and happiness. Fake passions lead to fake life. Have i missed anything ?
Fron objective view, level of success depends on the level of interest, but life is subjective in nature not objective. From subjective view level of happiness and contentment defines personal success. A person who is more successful in a profession need not be more contended and happy than a person less successful than him. It is perfect to work for within our inspiration and interest. Competing with the world is not the purpose of life. Accomplishing personal goals is the meaning of life. Life is subjective not objective. Life is an art. We are learning the art of living a human life. Our formal education is not everything. Life experience is the true education. Life is the true school. Now i guess i covered most of it.
I'm pretty sure particle physics is "pure science". After all, the entire universe works because of what we know of it. An electron simply does not "jump away" from it's parent proton in a hydrogen atom without any other influence. That is pure science. The stability of particle physics is the very foundation and reason the universe exists today. Mathematics is simply a way of DESCRIBING the behavior of particles like this. Maybe it is better to think of maths as the way to describe the pure science of science?
You can learn the entire world of trading and the markets in a week, or even one afternoon; But to really absorb and apply it to the real world successfully....takes a really, really long time...kind of like being a Karate or Yoga or Monk master
