It doesn't change the fact that they are fighting each other for the same supporters. Who knows, maybe one day Fox news will see them as a threat and just buy them out (one eating the other) considering Fox news has done such before. wrbtrader
Just research the media ownership by the owners of Fox News. News Corp is the parent company...CEO and Chairman is Rupert Murdoch. They all (CNN, MSNBC) have done it too. News Corporation assets @ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_assets_owned_by_News_Corp I wouldn't be surprise if Newsmax gets purchased within a few years if they continue to grab viewers and the owners of Newsmax will become very rich. Trump likes investments...he could take that 250 million he's raised from his supporters since November 3rd...invest a lot of it into Newsmax...sit back and wait for News Corp to purchase the company and he'll have his foot in the door into the rumor media presence. wrbtrader
If Newsmax took journalism seriously, as by standards that existed decades of ago, they would would likely attract viewers from the Center and maybe even Independents. Thus in turn could attract advertising revenue and increase Newsmax’s influence. The big question here is would this influence be for the right reasons and for the right people? By right reasons, I mean support for positive aspects of character, culture, and country. For the right people, I mean working class people whether currently employed, looking for work, or retired, regardless of their sex, age, race, or religion. Of course debunking fake news and covering the important news stories that mainstream media does not cover is an added bonus. FortuneTeller, how about you create and maintain a thread of solid Newsmax stories? I would do it, but I am going to be increasingly busy with other things, limiting my time to effectively maintain such a thread.
Did cable news get 183% increase? How about 100%? No? How about 50%? No? 25%...? As far as the Newsmax CEO calling his audience dumb, it walks like a fake news story, quacks like a fake news story, and looks like a fake news story by a fake news outlet panicking over losing market share to a up and coming competitor.

'We are lost:' Fox News suffers ratings slump while staffers fret about post-Trump future https://www.cnn.com/2021/02/02/media/fox-news-future-reliable-sources/index.html "We are lost," a Fox News insider remarked to me recently, and there are lots of data points to back up the assertion. Nielsen numbers for the month of January were released on Tuesday, and Fox ranked third in the three-horse cable news race for the first time since 2001. Furthermore, CNN was the No. 1 channel across all of cable. (More at above url)
