Poll: Crash or Bounce?

A Big Move is Coming? Which Way?

  1. This is a freefall. I see only the weakest of bounces this week, perhaps no bounce.

  2. This will be a decent retracement week to the upside.

  1. i just cannot figure out the nikkei and what it did last yr with those 50%+ gains...now its underwater by what...4-6%[?] what's wrong with it...cant really blame it on yen strenght...pattern for the decline was already clear since february. earnings continue to be strong and same for gdp growth...if us crashes its gonna bring down da entire world and that wud make last yr nikkei rally look very, very odd indeed imo.

There seem to be a few differences in the way the markets traded between now and 1987.

1987 looks clearly over-extended to the upside, and was due for a correction. The current market trend looks heatlhy by comparison, it regularly retraced and shook out loose money.

I believe the markets have some more room to move on the downside, but nothing like a crash.

Look how high above the MA the Dow was in 87...

That's the way I see anyways... We might still be in good shape.

  6. How do you get data from stock charts for the late 80s?
