No, most would not agree. The V.A. has attended to my health care needs for many years and mostly done a splendid job. Same for the many veterans that I know. This is not to say anything about Obama's proposed health care, as I have no idea how that would work out in practice after what I'm sure would be a very bumpy start. But I'm sorry your experience with the V.A. has been negative. Then again, I know many folks who have had horrible experiences with private insurance companies overseeing their private health care. I'm not sure which is worse, the government between me and my doctor or an insurance company bean-counter making the decisions for me and my doctor. Anyway, my experience with the various V.A. hospitals that I've gone to has been very good -- extremely inexpensive prescriptions, moderate waits for appointments, dedicated doctors and nurses (and volunteers), and the latest medical equipment. And, no, I'm not related to any member of Congress although I understand they also receive superb gov't health care.
I hope you guys realize that this thread has nothing to do with health care, like so many, simply another love or hate Obama thread. Medicare is probably one of the good plans run by the government. VA is, and has always been, a mixed bag. But neither has anything to do with any health care plan proposed by dems or reps. Insurance companies, Hospital groups, sure they're going to lobby. Follow the money. c
I agree. It's a very complicated issue. Opinions are divided. Obama was going to be about a new way of handling things, less partisan, more bringing us all together. So why the insane rush? Voting on bills that no one has even had time to read? Why not hash this out in a mature fashion and see if there is a consensus position? Why rush through an extreme plan in a highly partisan fashion? Unless of course it is all about politics and control. And everything Obama said during the campaign was just more politician's lies.
Bush had 8 years to improve it Bush and the re pubs had 8 years to come up with their own health plan
And under the Democrats plan you will have the choice to keep your current ins or get the governments insurance
Reminds me of the 2008 Republican ticket.(What was their health plan again ?) <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/NrzXLYA_e6E&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/NrzXLYA_e6E&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/GEtZlR3zp4c&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/GEtZlR3zp4c&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
