Since moving I now live in one of those communities, the gated kind. Actually it's a fake gated with no actual security guard at the entrance. None the less, it's a upscale community. I'm thinking the topic of the next Homeowner Association meeting will be something other than what type of plants you can hang outside.
Speaking of HOA's - there are plenty of militant HOA Boards who support defunding the police. Here is a story of one of them. Interesting to note as a follow-up that they told this guy that "only American flags are allowed". He took pictures of many other flags flying in the neighborhood - everything from "spring flags", "easter flags", "rainbow flags" and others. Retired police officer takes defiant stand after HOA demands he take down Blue Lives Matter flag 'I think it's self-explanatory what's going on ... the hatred toward the police' https://www.theblaze.com/news/retired-police-officer-hoa-flag
State senator calls out 'hypocrisy' of Minneapolis City Council members getting private security The private security costs $4,500 per day in taxpayer dollars https://www.foxnews.com/media/minne...e-while-having-private-security-its-hypocrisy The Minneapolis City Council's plan to dismantle police departments while being assigned private security details is “hypocrisy," Minnesota State Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka told “America’s Newsroom” on Wednesday. Several Minneapolis City Council members who reportedly have received death threats following their calls to defund the police--after George Floyd’s death while in police custody on May 25--have been assigned private security details, which reportedly cost the city $4,500 per day in taxpayer dollars. According to information obtained by Fox News, the city has spent $63,000 on private security over the last three weeks. “The city of Minneapolis asked for 400 more police in January and they got a couple handfuls and now they want to defund the police, but yet they want their own protection,” Gazelka said, adding that the people of Minneapolis also “want their protection and they want” to be protected “by police.” He pointed out that “a thousand buildings” were “destroyed,” a police precinct was destroyed, and the statue of Christopher Columbus was taken down in Minnesota following Floyd's death, which was captured on cellphone video that went viral around the world. Gazelka made the comments after City Council members voted unanimously on Friday to amend the city’s charter to remove the mandate for a police department – the first step toward disbanding it in the wake of Floyd’s death. The amendment proposed the city replace the police department with a Department of Community Safety and Violence Prevention, “which will have responsibility for public safety services prioritizing a holistic, public health-oriented approach,” a draft of the amendment read. The proposal added that the director of the new agency would have “non-law-enforcement experience in community safety services, including but not limited to public health and/or restorative justice approaches.” It also suggested setting up a division of licensed peace officers who would answer to the department’s director. Would be a funny way to get back at a politician calling for defunding police by having people go break into his home or generate fake calls...
The politicians are actually calling the police on the protesters out in front of their houses. Apparently the protesters don't believe the politicians went far enough in defunding the police.
Just to be clear - you believe that violent protestors should be allowed to protest out in front of your home & you should not call the police on them. Good to know.
No, to be clear, you believe politicians who advocate defund the police should not have police protection.
