Just like the Tea Party. A group that had a great message originally, and was hijacked by all sorts of fringe groups. Now, people on the left refer to the Tea Party movement as a bunch of right wing nutjobs, and by and large, they are correct. No different for BLM.
We have another winner.... Oakland councilwoman wants to defund the police and then demands that they guard her neighborhood from looters https://www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea...man-wants-to-cut-police-spending-15353601.php Oakland Councilwoman Nikki Fortunato Bas is calling for $25 million in police spending to be redirected to mental health, parks and recreation, homelessness prevention, youth programs and other social services. But when businesses in her district were threatened by looters during the recent demonstrations against police brutality, Bass wanted the cops out in force. “This morning residents and business owners told us that they saw no officers at all last night and that there were groups of people who apparently were waiting around with plans and tools targeting pharmacies, jewelry and cell phone stores,” Bas said in an email to acting Police Chief Susan Manheimer on May 31, the morning after looting in downtown Oakland. Bas repeated her call for more officers two days later in another email to Manheimer, saying “I am making an urgent request on behalf of elderly residents in Chinatown to maintain OPD’s presence around the pharmacies in Chinatown ” Manheimer responded, telling Bas, “as we prepared for the potential of more demonstrations on Saturday, we immediately doubled our resources, increased our visibility and presence in and around Chinatown.” So it struck some as interesting twist that in the wake of the protests, the progressive Bas called for defunding the police. Bas said both are true. “OPD sworn officers should focus on violent and serious crime. Reductions in the OPD budget will allow for alternative responses to nonviolent 911 calls by dispatching medical professionals or mediators,” she said in an email. As for her call for more cops when things got rough? “During the recent looting of pharmacies, it was a health and safety priority,” Bas said.
When people go back to work they will have more important things to worry about and the protests as well as George “ the home invasion meth head” Floyd will be forgotten.
Okay, we got it. You hate the police. You vote to get rid of the police department. Therefore, you must have private security paid for by the taxpayers. Got it. https://www.fox9.com/news/minneapolis-council-members-get-private-security-after-threats
More details... Minneapolis City Council, which voted to disband police, hires private security on taxpayer dime But law enforcement said no police reports have been filed detailing the threats https://www.theblaze.com/news/minne...voted-to-defund-police-hires-private-security The Democrat-controlled Minneapolis City Council controversially voted to disband its police department in the wake of George Floyd's tragic death. Now, three members of the city council are costing taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars per week because they have hired private security after receiving threats related to their support for defunding the Minneapolis Police Department. Andrea Jenkins, Phillipe Cunningham, and Alondra Cano — who have been outspoken proponents of the radical law police reform measure — are costing city taxpayers $4,500 per day in private security fees, KMSP-TV reported. Over the past three weeks, the city has spent $63,000 of taxpayer money on their private security details, a city spokesperson told KMSP. The mayor of Minneapolis is traditionally provided with security by the city police department, but city council members are not afforded the same service, KMSP noted. "My concern is the large number of white nationalist(s) in our city and other threatening communications I've been receiving," Jenkins told KMSP. Cunningham said, "I don't feel comfortable publicly discussing the death threats against me or the level of security I currently have protecting me from those threats." However, the Minneapolis PD told KMSP there has not been a filed police report for threats against any of the city's council members, though one could have been filed confidentially. A city spokesperson said the private security details "are intended to be a temporary bridge until other security measures can be implemented by council members," KMSP reported.
Yet more White Outrage by that Mayor (happens to be on the left this time) lmao graffiti is now "domestic terrorism". Bin Laden is looking up from hell with a big azz smile.
Yeah yeah... whatever. These political clowns whine that they want to defund the police and then demand private protection for their homes. Completely absurd.
