Poles have had a rough history and this accident is yet another link in a long chain of unfortunate events. RIP to those 97 - they did not deserve such tragic ending. As for the future, Poland has been hit much much harder in the past and will survive this with ease. There are many smart people there and things will go back to normal rapidly. A country that survived 3 partitions, Katyn, WW2 and communist dictatorship, will have no problem moving on.
God did it because it was time for the polish president to leave this world. God determines the life and death of all the people in this world.

While I'm almost always on the sane end of conspiracy theory arguments, this incident definately smells pretty rotten. I strongly doubt that Russia is involved in this, as they have much more creative ways (radioactive poisoning)and do not really need extra eyes on them. They could've done it on way out and have the plane crash on polish teretorry (neighbors anyway - same thing). The move was probably made from the inside. Pilots family & etc needs to be investigated - the most plausible argument is wellbeing of his close relatives. Anway, it is a trategy and RIP. My guess is that the VIPs pressured the pilot into making a fourth landing attempt that he didn't want to make, and they all unfortunately paid with their lives. This airport had no ILS system to help landings in bad conditions. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_Polish_Air_Force_Tu-154_crash
This Tu model is a known death trap. The field did NOT have an ILS, just some lame russian approach plates and an NDB (an ADF is best used to listen to the ball game). The tower *begged* this crew not to attempt another approach. The asshole-in-command ignored the tower and executed a controlled-decent-into-terrain in zero visibility conditions with no landing clearance. Insane.
