Hoofhearted, I understand dogs can kill. And I understand why you say to teach dogs control. You are right. But look at this dogs. They have no people to teach them, but they know to help the girl and hurt the man. Why? Why do you think the dogs know to bite the man, and not hurting the girl? http://www.latintimes.com/articles/5924/20130703/dogs-save-girl-argentina-hero-street-rescue.htm
It's hard to fully comprehend the situation in Argentina, as the article was very short, with no video footage, and no real eyewitnesses to confirm the story that the girl had told her aunt. It may have just been a story that came from an imaginative young mind that is seeking attention. No man was found. No dogs were found. No blood- no semen. Just a very young girl's story- which may or not be true. If it turns out to be true, it wouldn't surprise me to learn that dog's would bite a man who is trying to rape this girl. Dog's are very sensitive to violent behavior and often react with violence as well. They will often only attack someone who they perceive as a threat. This does not mean that they will not attack small children as well, as we have seen in many many instances. What determines a threat to a dog? Sometimes it is merely someone acting in a manner which says "I am the dominant figure in this immediate territory." Dogs may disagree, and say "No, no,no- We are the dominant animals on this particular block- this is our territory." Lets go back to the case of Rosby, "Max", and the police officers in the OP's video: Rosby and his dog initially controlled the immediate area in which Rosby was arrested by the cops. They strutted all around the area back and forth. Rosby's body language was clearly saying "Hey mo fo's, this is my turf- you got a problem with that?" Rosby's dog, Max, is able to pick up on this attitude that Rosby is transmitting. So, when Rosby and Max see the police officers start to approach, Rosby takes his dog to the unsecured vehicle, and then returns to the area that Max and Rosby had just been in control of. The police now come in and take control of Rosby and the area as well. Max's bark is saying "Hey you- that is my turf! That is a member of my pack (Rosby)! I'm gonna eat your face if you don't get out of our area and leave my pack member alone!" Max's actions that immediately followed may have very well been protective, and that is after all why we love these animals so much, no? The problem is Max has no understanding for human law, and has no training from Rosby which can stop Max from acting aggressive. Dog tries to bite and gets shot. Very sad.
Hey man I'll take the action anyway I can get it. I remember years ago bidding an addition and the young guy had a huge male German Shepard. While I was measuring and taking notes the dog kept circling around me and I had to keep turning to keep an eye on him. The home owner wasn't paying attention or worried. I was pretty athletic back then and I was thinking in my head how to get to my truck and reach my framing hammer if the dog started attacking. One of the few times I remember being worried about being attacked. I left before getting all my measurements and I didn't pursue that job any further. Of course for you dog whisperers all you gotta do is raise your knee and arms and the dogs run away in fear for their lives.
Actually it was just my arms. A tactic used thru out the animal kingdom. Dogs can sense fear, aggression etc. ya know.
I was combing your dog fighting tactics with that other dog fighting gurus tactics to make the ultimate technique.
