Huh? I was backing up your post - line in the song hmmm. Anyway no anger on my part. Auntie Em Auntie Em!!! See if you get that reference.
Friday eMini maybe showed its hand. RTH session was down KR day. Lets see what the boyz got for us tomorrow RTH open.
That being said ... The general principles are the same. Try to win the most on your best hands and lose the least on your worst hands. But this is more than hands ... It's about opportunity. Sometimes you win big on suboptimal hands against fool's plays. The problem when you play tight aggressive poker with the professionals is they won't call nor raise when you have a good hand. Therefore you will stop raising and you'll end up winning the bare minimum with a royal straight flush. The only time they will check or raise is when they will actually beat you. They become tighter and more aggressive than you, against you. That's why I like to make cheap mistakes there and there. I'll give them a win, I'll fake struggles. Hide my game. Show inconsistencies. Randomness. Worst is to win nothing on good hands ... You had an opportunity but they were all into a cold streak. How could you have earned more on this play ? How to mislead ? Push someone at fault ? It's a zero sum game. Like trading : Their mistakes are your gains. If everyone's playing optimally ... No one will lose nor win in the long run. Rule #1 Don't lose money. Stay in the game. Never bet the farm on a single hand. Capital preservation is key. Context is key. Lots of similarity with trading. But 100% of the players are humans (Hahaha) around a table. We're trying to exploit the behaviors of our opponents. Same as predatory algorithms exploit the behavior of other algorithms.
True re poker, gotta mixit up so your range is unpredictable . I intentionally play like a fish for an hour then shove with nuts, bank, then change tables
Great post! The only thing I would slightly disagree with is in bold. Mathematically,if you have AA you have to call an All In,even though you know he has a small pair and can hit trips. Although,I guess that could be managed by not having all your chips on the table?
AA's is one of the most dangerous hands, if it not backed with something else on the river you just have a pair, and can easily be beaten by many hands. Like KCalhoun said, KKK turned that hand into nothing.
Exactly what I was saying. Your play was correct and you had no other choice. Even if you saw his cards you had no other choice,statistically/mathematically. To relate it back to trading,I guess it would be to keep some powder dry,the biggest no brainers are the ones that sometimes cost you?
A pair is still the weakest combination. You beat the high card and the lowest pair. Statistically you have more chance to lose with AA I’d not go all in below a very strong flush. Only risk is Four of a kind or Full house Pre flop I’ll never bet more than twice the lowest blind. I’ll fold anything too expensive even with AA. I like to have a “free” look on the flop and start being agressive there.
