Interesting that they didn't show the kid who decided not to go to college cause he's pulling down 6 figures playing poker online. Also, that congressman who wants to block MC/VISA and banks from doing business with internet gaming companies is going down the wrong road. The day after a law like that goes thru there are probably a 100 off-shore companies that will pop-up as middlemen... you pay them $100 for a service and they put $99 in a PartyPoker account. Thank you congressman, you've just moved more revenue offshore and didn't accomplish your objective!
all you poker wanna bees - the new dumb players out there will tear up anyone who has been around playing. Lots of dumb money and luck. Poker is about 50% luck no matter how you analyze the odds and play tight or not. in Trading you can get away from stupid river cards and lucky morons at the table ..been playing 10+ years and take my work for it all those making $100,000 online will be broke next year.....
there is some luck in anything but there is a world of difference in the markets and online or offline poker. Trust me, I play very well but the luck factor is just too great. Of course there are some people who do not have a 10 year streak of bad cards. Just for your info - my first straight flush was beaten by a another straight flush. Just see how many people speculate in the markets and how many people play poker allegedly for a living. You will see the difference between trading and poker. Stu Ungar was broke before he died and he was about the best player - 3 times World Series.....
I agree...I have tried my hand at online poker and I have found it a little too lucky. I find, however, that sports/horse betting is much less luck as there is clear statistics to back your decision AND some computer generated shuffler isn't controlling your fate. I also find trading less lucky because it is simple to control your risk and reward levels. just my two cents
Sounds like a bad beat story to me. If you were really that good, it's unlikely that you would bring up a bad beat. Why did you mention this? Does it indicate something about online poker? If so, what is your point? You haven't told us what limits you are playing in online, tourneys only, or what? To say that Stu Ungar died broke and therefore you can't make a living at poker is ridiculous. Ungar was the worst coke addict to ever draw a breath. There are lots of guys who made a living before the poker boom and there are also lots of guys who have set themselves up for life because of the boom.
My dear departed father was in love with the ponies. Look I do not wish to discourage anyone. Poker is a great game. I am(was) just way too unlucky in this particular game and I finally gave up. P.S. I do have a little insight into gambling since I work for a Casino Good luck to you....
