I actively trade the e mini and a few select equities every day on TradeStation platform. I am upgrading from a 100 GB hard drive, 4 GB Ram, 3 monitor system to a trading only system. I developed the build here: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/H0Nj and would appreciate any critics. Do I have the right comments, to much Ram, etc? I will be using 6 DVI monitors I already have and this system will only be for trading. No internet surfing, etc. I do trade everyday and have about 6 workstations active all day. Thanks for any in sight. Chris Tina Bruce
You might have more RAM than you really need (check Task Manager). You don't need that much grunt from video cards... Are you sure you can run 3-monitors from one card? Just because a card has 3-ports, doesn't necessarily mean you can run 3-monitors.
Why do you need to upgrade? Check your current CPU and memory usage (task manager). Is it possible to upgrade the RAM in your current machine (if needed) and add another graphics card? Get a tablet or laptop if you just want a separate machine for web surfing.
I dont get it... does it matter his/her sexuality when it comes to trading and if you will answer the question or provide advice?
simply put, based on what you are stating... it is overkill...you dont need an E3... I would suggest you review the following few threads.. http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=259915 http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=260199 http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=259863 and this system would more than do it for you... just get SSD's and a better video card... from outlet.dell.com Optiplex 9010 Processor: Intel Core 3rd Generation i7-3770 Processor (8MB, 3.4GHz,w/HD4000 Graphics) Windows 8 Dell Outlet Optiplex 9010 MiniTower Desktop 500GB Hybrid 2.5 inch SATA 6Gb/s with 8GB SLC NAND Flash 16GB, DDR3 UDIMM Memory, 1600MHz, non ECC (4 x 4GB DIMMs) 16X DVD +/- RW Drive 1GB AMD RADEON HD 7470 Price: $779.00
I was thinking about the same machine but will it be able to run 6 monitors? what changes should be made?
Why you need 6 monitors, why cannot you just buy a big screen TV(LCD) and use it as a 2nd monitor. Few pro.traders I know use big screen TV as secondary monitors.
b/c most of the time a larger tv has a much lower resolution as a smaller computer monitor so you're seeing the same amount of stuff.
