Please, NO MORE FAVRE.

  1. Ok, here is a better one. Terry Bradshaw. Career QB rating 70.9. 212 TD, 210 INTs. Yes he has what 4 Superbowl rings but his stats are no where near Favre. An abysmal 70 QB rating like Favre had in the NFC Championship game was just an avg day at the office for TB :)

Its strange to go research old players who everyone thinks were so great. John Elway and Johnny Unitas had QB ratings in the 70's too.

I agree, I am amazed at the differences in ratings. A friend looked that stuff up early this year and it was pretty funny. We surmised that the difference is due to the protection the QB's are afforded these days compared to then when the QB was fair game to wipe out. Also some of the west coast offenses rely on the high percentage passing game as part of the setup. Although I think Favre was completing more long ones this year which wasn't part of the orignal game plan for Childress. I'm not sure how accurate that is, I heard it on some NFL network analysis. I've heard a few things I've looked up from them that turned out to be wrong.

Did you hear Fran (I couldn't win the big game if my life depended on it) Tarkington ripping Favre for his pass? I had to laugh of all the guys to rip him!

Same story with Rogers in the Packers playoff game. He took 2 different helmet to helmet hits and neither was called, both could easily have changed the game. Penalties are missed on both sides, it's still up to a team to come up with enough points to win. This one is a sore point for me. My oldest high school team was called for baloney penalties ar no call was made on a few obvious penalties, and they lost, a lot. I would give kids a ride home after games and I laid into them one day when I had heard enough whining about we should have, but the refs blew it. I told them maybe they should have made a tackle or 2, or not dropped a few passes. etc. Silence the rest of the way home. I called the coach and asked if he talked about not blaming the refs, and he started going on about yea, but the refs this or that. I let him know where i stood, which probably wasn't to popular. Long story longer, they lost their last game of season when 2 players started spouting off to the refs and were called for unsportsmanlike conduct. Ball on the 8 now form the 23 with the score tied. Big mouth shoots his mouth off again, ball to the 4, next play is a td and game over. Of course it wasn't their fault. I tore my son a new asshole on the way home even though it wasn't his big mouth.
Sorry for the rambling, my point being calls go both ways, you still need to go out and put up more points.

  6. You happen to be posting on a Favre thread, in case you hadn't realized :D

Plus, I did not publish that article from TODAY, ESPN did.

Now, why don't you go eat some dandelions and honeysuckles and leave the football talk to the real men :p

  7. Of course, many outcomes in NFL history could have been different had one single call not been (or been) made. Just saying the league admitted that it had missed a big one in this case.

  9. Hey, if you got a problem with the rules about hitting QB's below the knees, take it up with the NFL

  10. Just face it, Favre does not have what it takes. It is that simple.
