  1. GPU:

The best deal available out there. I think Boli would vouch for these. I wanted something more than this before Boli put some sense into me. My picture quality is great, even for streaming and Youtube.

    $7.99!!!

  3. RE: By the way i understand the following components is required to build great pc?

    - #1) motherboard - this goes hand in hand with processor, and other features like chipset, how many expansion slots, interfaces (NIC, USB, etc.)
    - ram - anything above 4GB these days you would be all right, I would start with at least 8GB. Why not?
    - vga - this is refering to the video cards. For trading - 2D charts, not that important
    - HDD - this will become important if you do a lot of back-testings and optimization. For real-time trading, discretionary style, not that important
    - Ethernet card - most motherboard has 1Gbit (or at least 100Mbit) Ethernet these days. This is a non-factor. You can spend money on 10Gbit Ethernet if you want. But it won't help you a bit. Because the bottleneck would be where the weakest link it. You can have a 10Gbit Ethernet card, but with a 5Mbps DSL link, you are only going to have a 5Mbps throughput.
    - #1) processor - most important, that's where the speed is

    What else ?

    - Power supply, have high enough rating to drive all the components you put together. I recommend 600W upwards.
    - Chassis to house all these components
    - Trivial stuff: keyboard/mouse, wifi if you so desire

And... a CPU builder cooler. Not not the CPU cooler. It's bottles of Corona to cool off the guy who builds the CPU.

  4. Good find, Sam! I use a few of these (not the same make but the same graphic chip). NVidia 8400 GS. Mine are with either 512MB or 1GB Ram and DDR3. But I think for what trading needs this will work just fine. Can't beat that, $7.99 to drive 2 monitors.

You are our king of shopping!

  5. Alcoeus

    Alcoeus

For the network card I'd go with a dedicated card and avoid using the onboard one since they can sometimes be flaky (esp. the cheaper MBs). Something like the Intel PRO/1000 GT ones are pretty cheap and reliable.

  6. Micro Center. Remember to tell them to take $50/60 off the motherboard if u get the processor from them. At present, they have the cheapest price on processors.

  9. What a small world!!!. I was in Dubai just a few weeks back. In regards to delivery, I doubt Micro Center will ship to Dubai. If I were in your place, I would forgo the deal searching as it may be difficult getting those in Dubai. Besides, you can cover up your system in a days work.

In regards to being professional, I guess that's what you'd call it, since it's my major source of income. As for my broker, I use multiple brokers, for different accounts AND for different reasons. For my day trading, I stick to IB and Lightspeed. For all other trades, I am split between Fidelity, Scottrade and Ameritrade.

In regards to the list of items and price, go to the link below and it's the last post.
