Thank you for your help. I finally found out why we were both on different pages. The hot key you suggested and I had already tried only works in the watch list, not the direct order ticket. So my problem still stands if I do it via the order ticket. But if I go via the watch list route then the hot key works. This still leaves me with a slight issue, but not as bad now. Also just on your poker comment, I should have said I played online poker, so it was all computer based via software etc. Thank you again for trying.
Sorry I cannot help you use the software combination that works for you. IMO, part of being a trader, is being able to work around issues like this. This seems like a very simple issue to work around, called a macro. Developing a system and tactics that works with the tool you are given, and not requiring software usage support or making feature requests, is a required skill AND is part of your "edge".
OK. The hotkey also works in charts, which is the main way I use it. Then my chart is linked to the order entry panel (linked by the same link color), so when I press Shift+Enter then both my chart and the order entry panel immediately show the same stock.
I do not agree with that, in this case. Trade ideas and E Signal both have this yes you are correct, that also works that route. thank you. Another issue I would not mind running past you is: Below is a screen shot of my alert window on IB. https://gyazo.com/8886532637ad7416913df2dd791e1349 Currently I use other software for my alerts, but at a cost. I would prefer to use IB, but here is the issue. Lets say I have 50+ alerts pending on that picture I just posted via the link. Then some of the alerts go off, I want to click on the alert ticker symbol and open it straight away in my chart. But this does not work. (I grouped both together btw, still no good) I did speak with IB about this and they said they are not sure on a fix. This shocks me as it's standard on E signal and Trade-ideas. It may sound like a small issue, but actually it's a big one if you are day trading imo. Because the only work around on IB now is when the alert goes off and you want to see it in your chart, you have to manually put the tick symbol into the chart. Which is not good for the obvious reason. Thank you again
yes totally, pretty shocked you can't just drag them. Some times it's fine, but others as you just said it's not. Again the year is 2021, you think we would have both options!
A click n' drag draws a trendline, as I'm sure you're aware. I think that a SHIFT-click n' drag to draw a trendline, and a click n' drag to scroll the chart makes more UX sense.
IB charting is an exercise in handcarving teakwood toothpicks. Not the best use of time, imho. Here's one you might look into... an ET sponsor: "Uncover Your Opportunity Get Started with FREE advanced charting, market analysis and trade simulation." Might be worth a free trial. https://ninjatrader.com/
OP here is the setting to fix the shift click BS. Set this section how mine is. I use trade ideas as well, and works fine. Every now and then there is a random stock that still makes me click stocks, very rare though.
WOW, my hero. How can I speak to IB support and go through to IB senior support and they do not know this and you do, lol That's so bad from them. Thank you very much. I just noticed as you said, with some it does not work, hopefully with most it does. Thank you again
