That oil was cheaper 3 years ago has nothing whatsoever to do with any US administration. It had and has to do with OPEC policy decisions, Iran, Russia, and especially demand for oil. Nobody drove cars at the height of the covid epidemic. Oil even closed negative at some point. All that threw resource prices out of their usual market equilibrium. Inflation now is the result of 2 decades of monetary policy mismanagement. And the argument that things only get better when even the last rogue state is on board is preposterous and utterly shortsighted. A lot of pollution is local. Where I live in Canada there is lots of air pollution due to local saw mills and related pulp factories. None of that affects anyone in Europe in the short or medium term. The region I live at has an incredible potential to innovate, promote tourism, grow as health care regional hub and grow as educational and research center. But not when you breathe in polluted air and when the city government believes it makes more sense to protect blue color jobs in a dying industry. I am soon moving away from this city because of air pollution and conservative policies that keep on destroying forests and the environment. Canfor, the world's largest timber processor and wood manufacturer just posted record earnings and it pays all its top executives millions of dollars in bonuses. If you had any clue what it pays its actual workers you should change your way of thinking. When I drive around and pass by small towns with sawmills all operated by canfor all I see are rundown towns that look depressing as shit, high crime rates, high drug abuse and piss poor people who work those factories and saw mills. If you truly believe that is innovative thinking and a policy to move forward then you are dreaming. Until there is a serious rethink that unhinged capitalism damages an economy and a society nothing is getting better. There are many other towns on the BC west coast that have shifted their policy settings. They have limited heavy industry, commercial fishing and now prosper as tourist hubs, serving high paying recreational fishers who come there from all over the world. Towns, that support and encourage entrepreneurs to settle there and now those towns have higher median incomes than other towns that still rely on big industry and large corporations. Unless we go ahead and research alternative products to build our houses or sustainable timber management we will always depend on destroying our environment instead of being good stewards of the resources that were entrusted to us. Regarding the long term it always takes early adopters to move forward to make the world a better place through innovation. If nobody starts then nothing changes. The world market is much more integrated than you might want to think. At some point we won't buy any Chinese or Russian cars (if there will ever be any) if they don't meet emission standards that we set for our nations. So nations that don't innovate and clean up will eventually be left behind and will suffer. The argument that we should not go ahead because others are not yet on board is incredibly childish.
I agree, their talking points sound much better than the hot air that comes out of liberal media. But make no mistake, a good talk does not get any work done. A lot is just talk but in the end conservative leaders appear to me way more selfish and self-serving than liberals. I rather see a messed up liberal guy like Trudeau in power, regardless of how much I dislike his personality and pretentious appearances than someone on the conservative side who would greenlight tons more pipelines, offshore drilling, limitless commercial fishing, unrestricted timber extraction, and who opens all the oil and natural gas tabs.
ROFLMAO….Anybody who thinks there is a climate catastrophe is deceived! And swallowing hook line and sinker of the little “green” people. It is a scam…scam…scam..scam. LOL PS WE WILL NOT BE RIDING IN LITTLE SKEET BUG ELECTRIC CARS BY 2050 nor by 2075. What are we gonna do fight wars with little electric tanks and electric fighter jets? We gonna jet over to India or New York to CA in electric Boeing airline transport?…ROFLMAO. It is being pushed for ONE thing. To raise billions and trillions to line the pockets of the proponents. It is all a BIG scam.
Glad to know you are not in control of anything. And you seem to have slept deeply. The marine industry is already pumping out super powerful electric outboard motors. Gardening tools like lawn mowers and snow blowers can operate on batteries. There are electrically powered props on airplanes. The auto industry is pushing forward with electric motors in full swing. Heat pump on houses are way more energy efficient than natural gas furnaces. Electrically powered motorcycles are already sold and they have more torque than any fossil fuel powered engine. Even Harley Davidson is invested... You are lost my friend.
We can discuss this in 2040 if I am still around. I will still be driving a fossil fuel truck and diesel Motorhome. I had a 4 ton heat pump. It was practically useless. I replaced it with a gas furnace. Much …much better. I was glad to see it gone….soooo glad. There is plenty of energy in the world. Also plenty of drinking water. I have drilled my share of water wells. There is no shortage. It all a scam to line the pockets of proponents and to secure funding for scientists with their pet projects. I used to laugh years ago when MR Gore was flying around warning about global warming and he would fly into a city to do a speech and a cold spell would hit. It was hilarious. Why do these that shout global warming live in big energy hog homes and fly everywhere leaving what they call carbon footprints all behind themselves in the wake of their BS travels. I don’t see them canoeing across the pond to give a global warming speech in Europe somewhere nor do I see them riding bicycles and hoofing it around. No sir they are to busy scooting across the world giving BS speeches jetting in first class flights. Why don’t they give their BS speeches under an oak tree instead of some high class swanky hotel conference room that is leaving a huge carbon footprint. It reminds me of my father-in-law (may he rest in peace) who once told me “don’t do as I do do as I say do.” Just google Al Gores house. LOL.
I’d put my 6 cylinder fossil fuel powered Goldwing up beside one of those toy electric motorcyles and the driver will eat my dust. I can just see an electric powered Ford pickup pulling an 18000 pound Fifth Wheel up the Sierra Madre Mountains or the Rocky mountains. The driver would have his pickup bed full of freshly charged batteries to make it not to mention all the stopping to swap batteries out and holding up all those fossil powered motorhomes blowing their airhorns at him…LOL. LETS NOT DISCUSS HOW IN THE 1970’s THE BIG WARNING FROM THE SCIENTISTS WAS A NEW ICE AGE COMING… You may be too young to remember or know about that. It is all Bout $$$$$$$ just follow the money trail. Roflmao
Let's see what you will be driving when gas and diesel prices are a 5 or 10 fold of now in 2035. Every scientific study contradicts your bullshit claim about heat pumps vs gas furnaces. You simply have no clue what you are talking about. I won't discuss this with you as you are as unscientific and lacking facts as it gets.
Trump tax cuts were really trickle down economics. You have strange views on the world. You are against sanctions because it will dissuade investment in America but in favor of unstable retroactive tax policies - because that won’t dissuade investment in America.
part of the issue is that inflation is due to strong savings due to covid. That’s not a Republican or Democrat thing. Are your subscriber numbers up since Covid?
