  1. Nah, institutionalize a few ET members would be more like it.

  4. Oh, is that all you got?

I looked at hapaboy's posts in the thread you mentioned. I didn't see any hate speech. Maybe his statements were motivated by hatred for Muslims, but their content was not racist, as far as I could see. You seem to think that any criticism of Muslim culture is automatically a form of hate speech.

It seems to me that this entire thread was based on an erroneous accusation.

I don't think that these discussions have any place on a website supposedly devoted to trading. I still, however, don't think that censorship is the right approach to hate speech. I think that debate is the right approach. One of my complaints about ET is that opportunities for meaningful debate about racism, or other forms of hatred, or any subject in general, are extremely limited by the site's inadequate moderation and its festival of abusive behavour. I think censorship is needed, in an internet discussion, to protect individuals against demonstrably false accusations and other harassment. If this is lacking, then, for one example, "discussion" of racism will tend to promote racism, rather than to combat it.

This is in addition to my other complaint, which I have already mentioned in this thread, that it is wrong to present a website as devoted to discussion of trading by the trading elite, when really the trading elite barely participates at all, and the site's moderation policies protect and encourage confidence men working their scams, and frustrated losers exchanging false accusations and other forms of abuse. I am referring to the site's moderation as it is actually practiced in reality, not the unenforced rules listed in its terms of service. Perhaps the greatest harm done by the site, other than enabling frauds, comes when it encourages people to see abusive behavour and mob psychology as acceptable, and to believe that the internet is capable of little better.

  5. So you think more active moderation is warranted.

Are you volunteering for that job?

  6. Why don't you take it on, Z10? That way you could guarantee that you will never lose a debating point.

  7. Since I don't lose any points now, why would I want to moderate?

p.s. I don't win any points either, only self appointed scorekeepers like you think there is a scoring system.

Shame on this thread and all who troll here.

  9. You seem to be bringing up the subject of points quite a bit, Z10. Of course you use your typical "statement of facts" to "win" your valuable points. For example, this ridiculous statement: "I don't win any points either." In your mind, you win them all, on Planet Z10.

  10. Twas you, Mr. Scorekeeper who introduced the concept of winning (never lose a) "debating point."

"Why don't you take it on, Z10? That way you could guarantee that you will never lose a debating point."

    Please don't drink and post...
