post #213 >> I didn't mention that the deposit at my firm gives you capital-control but the focus is more on your day stop. **With $50k your firm allows $300k of control and 2% of that is only $6,000 as a stop... in contrast... With a $50k deposit at my firm you get $25,000 DAY stop.. >> If you get smashed and lose it then you go back on half-size to make it back.
post #226 ............. see last sentence. I'm not big, I'm Mr. Nobody but I am a SOLO Trend surfer and control my own money. >> There are many things that would never work in your suggestions. Firstly, I have a hard-enough time deciding myself whether to go long or short, and you want to try get 100 people of equal-say to agree? It will never happen. >> Also, you can't compare Warren Buffet to 100 elite-trader members. Warren Buffet is an extremely talented trader, with a long-bias and preference for shares and longer-view (I consider investors just longer-term traders and they have to apply the same skillsets we do). >> Finally, if you control $500,000 and even if you are an amazing team (by some miracle) and you generate 10% return per year, you'll only make $50,000 split between 100 people = $500 per year. >> There's a reason why the biggest traders ride solo and control their own money.
post #228 QQQ has wounded me more in shots to the stomach than money unrealized loss. But deeeeeeep down I know the longer I survive the better my odds of winning. Just stay alive to fight another day. Dying outright ain't much of a livin .......... Clint Eastwood modified >> What happens, I've noticed, is that if you survive long enough to be trading for about the 2.0 year mark your confidence and body language changes to a veteran soldier of war. Like you've just been through so much and it's taken a toll on you mentally. >> 99% of consistently-profitable traders who been around 3+ years are wounded soldiers, war-victims, and are very humble when it comes to their trading.
#236 (Many roads lead to Rome. Mine most certainly will do so. Of this I am sure. The alternative? DEATH. I can have it. Death don't bother me none. DEATH is easy - its living that's hard. .............. Clint Eastwood) Everyone has read all the generic trading principals anyway. You can find them all over the net written in hundreds of different forms but all saying the same thing. I specifically found certain traits that the best of the best are all doing, even with completely different strategies + execution methods.
DONE! DONE! DONE! Will revisit the thread again in 3 months. Thanks very much to ET poster, ondafringe for this outstanding recommendation. Much appreciated. Expanded my vision to not just ............. raise the angle by 0.00001 degree and already you have a wider scope but also to add to the concept by Warren Buffet, "the big swing"
Here's the thing, guys ............. Trading is a hard road. "Hard=difficult" is a required concept in the making of a Man. All that stuff about no pain no gain in the gym, they have some idea but wait till they try trading and then they see real pain. Its a priveleged road for on almost all roads you pay and you receive joy, not so in trading you pay to learn from pain. Goddamn what a concept! Jesus H Christ who would have thought it would be so convoluted?! Reminder: I am a total dummy on QQQ as deaddog has so nicely outlined my trades. I am ashamed of my shoddy performance but I will try to do better. I had such a nice plan to place shorts under wave lows but then got stupid and started shorting mid-wave. what a retard! Live and learn.
True story about Mr. Nobody aka yours truly A while back I revisited my broker's office in a foreign country. I thought nothing of it. A Mr. Nobody hardly expects any fanfare or celebratory music on his arrival. I just walked in intending to take the broker out to lunch and knock down a beer and get him laid for he is lacking in that dept. Lo and behold, he charged out of his glass office when he saw me walking in and embraced me and hugged me and said, you saved my job and the lives of 15 other heavy hitters big players who play in the millions and were consistent losers for years. Shocked to hear this I asked, "pray tell me what you are thanking me for?" His answer floored me! He said, "we can now spot a TREND!" Jesus H Christ, the thing that came native to me was so difficult for them!. This is life. there's no telling what others will find easy or hard. Its almost impossible to predict. The long time traders in the firm were standardly now in the millions in consistent profits and trading without stress for the basement was now cast in stone - they could see a TREND and traded the trend. I went to Heaven when 16 people in one shot wai-ed me in the same ogonblick. I almost fell down as my knees and legs got wobbly What's a wai of respect and gratitude? Been there, done that, had an athletic Thai girl with me, my gf at that time and she was able to run up the slopes like they were flatlands. Shocking! We like camping so much that she said, "let's build a house here?" I said Ok but shortly thereafter at he admin. center we found out its govt. land and not allowed. bummer! I had given her the real true movie star holowwood sunglsses, yeah the round ones that are super hard to find and she misplaced them somewhere on the hill. From the bottom of the hill when Iasked what happened to the glasses she almost died and just bolted uphill in a run and retrieved them 1 hour later and then cried fo r2 hours in shame. Goddamn I had truly arrived in Paradise. Such heart, such soul!
I didn't say I didn't think he was going to learn anything from it. I said he would not read it. But my challenge was accepted and he read/is reading the whole thing, so my strategy worked. And after reading it, if he still thinks the DOW is going to drop to the 2008 low, then he is really not learning anything.
>>> I said he would not read it. <<< Wrong again >>> so my strategy worked >>> It was not because of your psyche play that I read the thread. I read the thread simply because it was clear as day to me that the messenger, ondafringe was a man of substance esp. when I read the first post of the thread. That sealed it. And for me now, a newbie, I have a twofer = the thread + an ET poster of substance. I'm a happy camper for such largesse. >>> And after reading it, if he still thinks the DOW is going to drop to the 2008 low, then he is really not learning anything <<< Yes, the Dow is going to Corona low first, then to 2008 low. No changes here.
