Lately I'm constantly distracted by this thought and its affecting my trading concentration: it pops in and out .... If it takes only $20 billion to totally eradicate homelessness in America why are we giving a foreign country $54 billion to fight a war they cannot win? Its throwing money down the drain. Shit happens in a Bear market of this caliber.
On what planet will 20 billion totally eradicate homeless? It is certainly not earth. Do you have a citation for this claim?
I do have a citation for this claim! Enjoy! (1) Type the following phrase into Google how much would it cost to feed all the homeless people in America (2) https://www.globalgiving.org/learn/...o the Department of,a year on gym memberships. (3) https://aah-inc.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/whomeless.pdf (4) https://www.huffpost.com/entry/wall-street-bonus-alternatives_n_5000118
Taking another country as an example .................. also from the same google search How much money would it take to end homelessness in Australia? It requires a long-term and systematic effort across agencies, sectors, and the community. While state and territory governments have primary responsibility for housing and homelessness, in 2020-21 the Australian Government expects to spend around $8.4 billion in housing support and homelessness services.Dec 15, 2020
"“To truly end homelessness, we need to reenergize and organize a movement to demand a significant increase in federal funding that keeps pace with rising local needs,” Donald Whitehead, Executive Director of The National Coalition for the Homeless, said. Another way to support preventative services is by donating to organizations that help communities access resources. “We believe people with disabilities, mental health concerns, and addictions can best address those concerns when housed with no timelines or program-required expectations,” Beth Benner, Executive Director of Women’s Housing Coalition, said..." So to end homelessness, we just need to pay for all the homeless people's food, housing and medical needs until they get jobs and can afford to pay for all that on their own by earning 30 bux per hour in their career. That will cost a LOT more than $20 billion.
Going beyond citations ........................ According to a Congressional Budget Office (CBO) report published in October 2007, the US wars in Iraq and Afghanistan could cost taxpayers a total of $2.4 trillion by 2017 including interest. https://www.brown.edu/news/2021-09-01/costsofwar https://www.cbsnews.com/news/afghanistan-iraq-wars-debt-6-trillion-interest/ https://www.cbsnews.com/news/afghanistan-iraq-wars-debt-6-trillion-interest/ https://www.cnbc.com/2019/11/20/us-spent-6point4-trillion-on-middle-east-wars-since-2001-study.html https://www.pogo.org/analysis/2019/12/adding-up-the-cost-of-our-never-ending-wars
We won't even mention the interest bit, which is a @piezoe issue. But after 09/11, I think that is 2.4 Trillion well spent. If you do not understand why, then you didn't live in NY during the attacks.
End of Endless Wars takes care of EVERYTHING quite nicely. It would also bring a smile on the face of God! Remember HIM? His son asked, "let he who is without sin, cast the first stone" For starters if God allowed us to roll back the clock and grant us one wish, I'd ask for cancelation of the Iraq war, a totally bogus war that nobody has yet been jailed for. Then the savings from that war I would feed all the elitetraders who are either already on the streets of California or will be by the time the BEAR market ends - including ME. I could be her son and take her food every day. Look at that smile. It takes more than money - compassion, empathy and ............
If endless wars is what you wish to end, then your wish should be an end to the Isreali-Muslim war which has been raging for hundreds of years. That would have had a greater impact on our current state of affairs in the Middle East. You wasted your one wish. You failed.
