I think if you're an active daytrader, 2 monitors is really the minimum. I could perfectly 'do my thing' with 3 monitors, but it means you will swap pretty often your L2/chart windows between stocks. So, having more than 3 or 4 monitors isn't really "necessary" IMHO, but it just makes your life a bit easier And like said before, you can buy good 19" TFT's for like $230 already nowadays ...
I agree, I am doing with 3, but 5 would be sweet. I plan to trade OEX options and I don't want to have to switch back and forth.
ES I appreciate the words of caution.........this is a strategy my mentor has been working on for a bit. That said, do you care to elaborate so I can run your concerns by him before I dive in? Options have a fixed loss, the way we would buy them, buying calls and puts, that's it, based on the same chart formations we use for day trading futures, only longer time frame. Thanks in advance. Dan
No I do not care to, just be careful...I have seen many traders including myself lose big time...When I lost 20k is was back in 1997 I believe. I had the same idiea that you had and had worked on it a long time. At that time Lawrence Mcmillan faxed me a morning report that I subscribed to...yes fax...hehe Michael B.
My trading station. Actually I have only cancelled a trade from here. But it is my only connection to the market while it is open.
I think it depends on what you trade. Since I trade heavily but it is not my main job so I decided to trade only on stock options and for trading stock options and sometimes on some stocks, one monitor is enough but I really wished I could have 3 monitors and a relaxed trading environment. I am sure if you are scalping on stuff like S&P future, you would need at least twomonitors.
lol you can do that same 6 24 inch monitor set up using dells 24 inchs for $4600 max vs there $9900 price
