Do you use software or a API export to link Tradestation to your Merrill Pro?? I am trying to do the same with REDI.
The good ol' compressed air can comes in handy to clean out the dust. When I was using Compaq computers, I never had any dust inside. Now that I am using Dell... they are like you say... "Ultimate dust magnets"...
Nope, Software should do one thing and do it well not try to do everything. Execution platform quickly executes, and charting platform draws charts. I don't trade fully automated so api linking seems trivial at this point. I'm sure it can be done though.
My Dells have been running 24/7 for years - only time they go off is for upgrades. There is a school of thought amongst IT guys that switching PC's on and off is bad for them anyway and can cause reliability problems through component stress with all the bits getting hot and then cooling off, expanding and contracting day in day out.
