Thanks UpTik. You're probably right about that. The system I had when I was at a prop shop wasn't too complicated. I'll look into it.
Do you (or anyone else here) find benefits of using these cards for trading apps over less expensive ones?
Not really. I was mainly referring to the system with all monitors in pivot mode. Since the g450mms was the card I began with, then I 'kind' of had to continue with it when I expanded that computer. Most cards will do fine as long as there are no 'conflicts' with existing cards/hardware.
I use the Ergotron DS100 (prices are a lot lower lately for this stuff too). www.ergotron.com http://www.thenerds.net/index.php?page=productpage&affid=2&pn=33096200 To my knowledge Dell doesn't sell them without the stands.
with the dells could you take the stands off?? I have 4 crts and its a pain to view all 4 across.. having a quad would be great.. dell has some nice monitors i here.
Yeah, I kind of feel a bit guilty about that, no doubt. I try to save energy in other ways to compensate. I think the whole setup uses 3 circuits and a couple of times the wife was vacuuming and all of a sudden...BEEP....BEEP...BEEP...BEEP! I have 6 large APC ups's which keep everything going for awhile but I had to run to the power panel and turn the breakers back on. In terms of electricity cost/month, I probably spend $60-$80 month. But it's a lot of stuff to maintain/replace...
I use their Fp1901, fp1905, fp2001 models and those the back comes off easily. I tried 1 of their 'widescreen' models and didn't like it.
risktaker, With all the computers and monitors, are you making decent money or just trying to look good?
That's a good question. I *am* doing good but the fact remains I just don't like this market. Trying to look good? This thread was started a year ago. First time I ever posted a picture was a few days ago. If I had it my way, I'd rather have *one* monitor. I can only blame this BS market for having been forced to trade this way. But I'm a firm believer that if one is going to have a chance at doing something well then he needs the best tools available otherwise it's likely just a hobby. It ain't no hobby for me.
