The 'portrait' setup was started a couple of years ago beginning with 4 monitors. Then I changed to 8, then 10 and lately 12. I like the vertical setup because it allows for making more charts 'taller'. At the time, the 19'' screens were much less than the 20''. The cards are all Matrox G450MMS. The other reason, as you pointed out is less desk space. I think 3 monitors stacked on top of each other though, would be too high. I had to get a new chair so it will lift to the right height. Initially it takes some getting used to.
So your order entry is on the left side, and the monitors on the right. Are you trading stocks, and just have a lot of charts up there so you can quickly view a stock or what? Just curious how your works?
risktaker: Impressive... What devices do you use to mount your horizontally and vertically stacked LCD panels securely? From Dell or a third-party? Can LCD panels be ordered standless from Dell?
Wow, those must suck a great deal of power Wana let us in on how much that whole system is worth? lol Good luck to you, -Kastro
on most lcd's the backs can be taken off and monitored on quad stands.go to goiogle and loook for monitor stands. thag ystem can be had for $4k or so. dell had an awesome dell for there awesome 19 inch 1907 fp at $250 each. so you can get 12 for 3k and the stand will cost about 1k. 2 years ago thoise 19 icnhers were $500 each. equipments cheap now
Wow dude, babes are always impressed with my 3-screen setup off the main computer, + 2 laptops + servers in a rack (doing all sorts of gnarly calcs). I bet they'll faint if they see yours
speaking on behalf of the "fairer" sex...no..their eyes would just glaze over...a few pictures on the wall would be nice
prices have come down a bit. you can get stands for 6 screens for about 600 bucks now. Figure $250 per screen unless you have to have Samsung. A pc to handle way more than required for trading for a grand. So, for 6 screens, 1500 + 600 + 1000. My system cost considerably less on the PC side, and works great. Note, I use it only for trading though. No gaming or other BS. jay
