people, remember your trading success is not measured by the amount of fancy monitors you have. the only measure of success in this business is the amount of thrill you get! look at cramer and his silly yellow cups and all that. very low tech. but ahhh the thrill of all this !!!! be consistent. be thrilled
I dont agree I daytrade crude oil and its movement is highly dependent on S&P, DJIA and EURUSD. Sometimes it also takes cues from Gasoline. Therefore I need to have at least 4 monitors so that each chart is in front of me and I know the exact moment any movement happens in any of them. And not to mention that I need to look at different times frames of crude oil. Therefore multiple monitors are very important if one wants to succeed. However this is NO WAY means that multiple monitors = guaranteed success.
That is possibly the most ridiculous thing I've even seen, but it just might be reasonable for them .
Did you consider a quad cube shaped setup? Any reasons for setting them up the way you did over a cube config? Seems like a cube would require less turning of the head and neck movement?
uh, let's see: 1) the heat generated from the monitors requires seperate fan 2) the risk of turnover / tip over 3) the requirements of a solid desk to support the concentrated weight, 4) the ego factor of a spread out rig instead of an "also ran" desktop setup (found at most trading desks) just a few thoughts came to mind...
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Personally, not too concerned with those reasons. Would not have a problem with fan/AC if needed, but don't think it would be necessary. Also would not have a problem putting them on a solid secured stand on a solid desk if I went with such a setup. And not too worried about ego factor, more concerned with ergonomics and usable functionality.
This is precisely the setup I would use if I were to build a trading desktop, albeit with 30" 2560x1600 monitors. I've tried over-under setups before but I like having my current positions and watchlist *directly* in front of my face , which is smack in the middle of the bezels in such a setup, so a portrait setup is perfect. Unfortunately I like the mobility of my MacBook Pro a bit too much, and the quality of internet service from my regular haunts around the world is getting better and better all the time, so it's not likely to happen. If it ever does though maybe I'll go balls out on a 32 megapixel ZenView rig! (Sorry I didn't include any pics of my setup but I'm sure you can envision a laptop with a BlackBerry on a stand beside it.)
Really? That's my CL setup, I personally can't see how anyone needs a full 19+" monitor to view a single chart, especially in the middle of a trade when they presumably don't have 100 studies on the screen - but to each their own. One of the nice things about working for yourself is that you don't have to prove to your boss that you need a 12 monitor rig to trade successfully.
