Aren't they power supplied directly by the MB? limitdown, you are absolutely right, everyone I have asked gave me different answers. Thanks for your suggestion, I will ask the official tech supports.
The video card specs (freely available from the manuf before you buy) should tell you what power requirements are. Those same specs will also answer your questions regarding OS, etc.

ive been putting off getting a monitor stand. looking at your "set-uip" convinced me. i have my 4 monitors kinda stacked, but they are still kinda spreadout.
