  1. Lescor,

Do you find that your monitors put out a lot of heat. I have two Samsung 213Ts and one Acer AL2423W and they can put out quite a bit of heat, especially the Acer. Along with my CPU (self built),this setup really warms up the room and unfortunately the AC feed into the room cannot seem to take the temperature down too much. I am looking for a way to cool down my whole setup.

I don't notice any significant heat coming off the screens at all. Not like the old days with 4 21" crt's right in front of my face. I have LG's and Planar's.

  4. Are we allowed to say oriental when it comes to carpets or have we already "graduated" to the Asian like with everything else that used to be oriental and now is Asian?

    BTW. Honest question.

  5. Interesting. I get quite a bit of heat coming off of my LCDs. I'll have to do some research into other brands to see if it is just mine.

    Thanks

  6. I had to add a 25000 BTU air conditioner to my office to keep it cool in the summertime, I had a 12000 BTU that I gave away and that just never got ahead of it. Now it cools down in just a few minutes. The rest of the year, I just use a window fan that brings in fresh, cool, outside air!

  7. Actually i think ''oriental'' is is proper when referring to art, carpets, etc. But it's not used when talking about people.

    Lescor,

  8. A separate AC is one of the things on my list, although it will not be a very practical solution given the current layout of the house in relation to where my office is. However I am also looking into cutting down on the ambient noise (CPU mostly) so that will be a tough choice to make. I am in South FL so the heat is a very significant factor in the summer. Opening a window is definitely not an option.

This year I am looking to build a new CPU and will use a case/processor/power supply/etc that will significantly lower noise and heat. The new Penryn processors also look like good candidates to lower CPU temperatures and also give a significant boost to performance.

the heat most likely coming from inverter.
imo-just like power supply for computer inverter can be more or less efficient. i have few 19" hanns-G's + 205bw samsung's. they all absolutely cold.
also -great source of heat is computer PSU. specially those, with efficiency <70%.
here is good one,i bought couple of those not so long ago-they very quiet, efficient and not generate lot of heat..probably going to buy another one @ 19$ AR
